Buy a carom or pool table?

For my home, I have the room for either.

I've had many many discussions about this, pros and cons for each option.

What do you think?

You got the right answer first crack out of the box! Something else might be possible though. I have seen tables set up for carom with just the edges of pockets peeking out from the cushions. Not enough for a ball to hang on though. A carom table that could relatively quickly convert to a snooker or pool table might be just the ticket if neither has a clear advantage in your mind. A heated table with thick slates might make an awesome pool or snooker table and still convert to carom.

You can find pool tables to play on anywhere, but carom tables are much more scarce, so I think carom is the way to go.

If I had a Carom table instead of a pool table I don't think it would get used as much as my pool table. Reason being is that if I had equal interest in Carom and pool (I would certainly like to try it out for a day or so) I do not know anyone else who is, it can get boring if you only play by yourself all the time.

My 9ft unheated carom table is fast as heck plays fine to me, actually prefer it over the modern 10ft 3c trendy ice hockey tables
fits right in the ol living room
costed about 3-4times less too

If you want to have friends play at your home, go with pool not billiards.
I am a 3 cushion player and most pool players really suck at the game.

They don’t recognize shot patterns, hit the CB too hard & use too much
English. You will be teaching people how to play more than actually play.

Agreed: a carom table will be somewhat of a novelty.

Great game, far more obscure than pool in the USA though.
