EARL STRICKLAND Returns to TEAM USA

It was just more than opening his trap about SVB, he ruined his own public image with many many blunders and talking out of line and too much. Sad story, pool lost, MD lost and here we are.

Anyways have a good day,

Take care

He was upset about all the svb this and that! Numerous times Dechaine called out his short comings or missteps...

In his eyes it was unfair that he was no extended the same courtesy..

You know, you are all bunch of big dumb bass on a line, and matchroom is just playing with you. They are getting out of this exactly what they want. And I'll bet $2 to a dog turd that their viewership is up this year.

Even the people that say they are not going to watch it, are going to watch it. But they'll never admit it. Might not pay for the Pay-Per-View, but they'll watch it on YouTube. They won't be able to help themselves.

It's like a train wreck... You can't help but to just watch it.

If it was 1990 and Earl was still at the top of his game, none of us would be complaining. Earl wasn't picked for his playing ability in 2021. Vick was allowed to return because people thought he could win.
Not true. The guy is 8th in Fargo Rate. And most of the whiners here only commented on his attitude or his possible dragging the "good" name of pool in the mud. I guess many here don't actually play pool or have been to a pool hall. No offense to any former team mates or past opponents in the past 20 years, but there is about 50% of them I would not allow in my home or near my family, just saying ;) lol

The odds of Canada ever being included are about as good as the odds of Earl not going off.
ahhh, a man can dream, can't he? Alex would be a GREAT addition. You know that. But, you are right, never gonna happen.

Guess it depends if you think fargo rates equate to player merit...

Here's the current rankings for 'North American' players.

Fargo Rankings:
2: Shane Van Boening, USA 829
15: Alex Pagulayan, CAN 815
29: Sky Woodward, USA 801
30: Mike Dechaine, USA 801 <- shunned for some reason
41: Justin Bergman, USA 794 <- won't travel
57: John Morra, CAN 786
72: Corey Deuel, USA 779
73: Oscar Dominguez, USA 779
78: Rodney Morris, USA 777
84: Earl Strickland, USA 774
87: Billy Thorpe, USA 773
93: Josh Roberts, USA 771
97: Jonathan Pinegar, USA 769
100: Jonny Archer, USA 769

So pretending that Dechaine is wanted/willing to play. That still puts John 5th on the "all North America" team. If you think the inclusion of both Alex and John wouldn't help the NA team, you're delusional.

I'd put my money on Morra over anyone on that list below him. Fargo rate advantage or not.

Who gives a shit? It's team USA vs Europe.

Maybe we can get Taiwan or the Philippines

The world isn't fair

some have good health

a few are born into affluence

some are more likable

a few gain wealth by playing games, athletic and others

more often than not we're best served by preparing ourselves to excel in our chosen endeavor instead of focusing on injustice

as i said the world isn't fair

last i read MD was selling home improvement products which may be less stressful than competing at the highest national and international levels of anything, he might not want to fly too close to the sun

although he may not admit it he probably knew ( i think he's bright) what would result from his actions

I was disappointed to read on Facebook a post written by Dechaine about Earl saying, "Let the circus begin."

What makes Team USA win is unity. The team players support each other and have a team spirit. When Johan Ruijsink was Captain of Team USA, he created a unity that was sorely needed. That is why, in my opinion, Team Europe was successful under Johan Ruijsink's leadership style.

I know Mike Dechaine has a strong fan following, especially in the Northeast, but it would be nice if he adjusted his attitude some and tried to be more amiable with others from time to time.

Thank goodness, Jeremy Jones and Shane Van Boening know who's who and what's happening in the American pool world much more than me as a virtual railbird. I trust their judgment on who the next two picks will be, and I'm sure they will be team players.

It was just more than opening his trap about SVB, he ruined his own public image with many many blunders and talking out of line and too much. Sad story, pool lost, MD lost and here we are.

Think Archer rallied the troops after his woman was insulted....

Mike been bullied all his life. Even without that happening in the pool world he smartened up and realized the second best pro pool player in America makes more selling windows....

Currently the second best American pro pool player still isn't breaking 100k a year. I'm nobody and beat that without getting chalk on my pants.

Consider it done. Be nice if some of the hateful SOB's could tone it done on Earl, not the best way to treat a HOF, senior citizen with bonafide issues. I mean, they don't have to like the pick, but the hatefulness if fuking unbelievable.

NFL guy fights dogs and then drowns them afterward, goes to prison, but still gets to play football for millions when he got out, But, Earl gets way too emotional during a match and he's basically considered Hitler reincarnated. Damn.
Thanks bro.

My first reaction was that I hate the pick. But, Earl just made it as far as Jason Shaw in the International. And, there's no denying the legacy of his accomplishments. I'm not a fan of his antics but I also don't think he's done anything serious enough to exclude him.

Personally, I'd just rather see a team with young players who may get their asses kicked but at least will have a chance to learn from the experience.

You were oblivious to the better talent near your border so I clued you in. You're welcome... ;)

Alex and John would make team "America" stronger than it currently is. You're reaction to me pointing out this reality was fully expected, and typical.

The USA can't compete, so yes I think you need to expand your thinking. How about Europe vs the rest of the world (with a token american).

Oh hell ya... I'll watch it for sure.

Matchroom pulled the right strings on this one. Earl may be the only reason people may pay for the PPV

He wanted to win and the rack was/is his thing! It was important to get even the slightest edge.

He on several players and saviors! His issues were racking related if memory serves! The racking argument was a big New England area thing during that time! Zuglan banned him!

Racking in later years by Dr.Dave has proven to be a form of cheating at the highest levels of the sport and with money on the line it gets ugly! That is the reason people are moving towards one pocket and that game is growing.....

wasn't all about racking either, i believe he also had a controversy with either the dragon promotions 14.1 or the maryland 14.1 tourney. and countless other people. if someone constantly gets in arguments with just about everyone.. might as well leave the discussion, this thread isn't about MD.

Every pro event I've been to with Earl...80 percent of fans are watching his table. The greatest show on a pool table.
