Classy Efren vs. Angry opponent

This video was from about two years ago in a one pocket match featuring Efren Reyes vs Mike Medley. Many of you have probably seen this video before, but it was new to me. In the third game, with the score tied at 1-1, Mike loses count of his score and thinks he needs one ball. He makes his 7th ball, and gives a look like the game is over before Efren reminds him he needs one more. It's difficult to hear, but Mike argues that he didn't put his 7th ball on his side and that Efren had taken it (I re-watched the game, Efren was correct). Mike had shape on his next ball and pocketed it to take a 2-1 lead. In the 4th game, at the 1:24:00 mark of the video, Efren thins a ball (making it move at most an inch) and sends the cue ball up table. Mike tells him that he didn't hit it and tells him to spot a ball, accusing him of being a cheater and already trying to cheat the game before with the ball count. Efren, being the guy he is, spotted a ball anyways to diffuse the situation, but that doesn't stop Mike from making some more comments about Efren being un-classy.

One of the comments on the youtube page says that Mike still holds a grudge, and that Efren is not welcome in his pool room. Anyone know about this? If it was posted before I must have missed it. Crazy situation and I loved the way Efren handled himself.

Guy sounds like a colossal fkng tool. This the guy that own's Michael's in Ohio? What a nit. Like Efren needs to cheat to beat this chump.

I can't find that. At 1:10:11 Mike goes gets to the table with the game score 1-1 and his ball count at 5. Mike makes a shot and his ball count ticks up to 6, then Mike banks the red ball cross side for a count of 7. After that, Mike walks around the table to shoot at another ball. He doesn't say anything, and he doesn't act like he won the game. The only thing he does is get up from the shot to catch his breath, as explained by Jeremy Jones.

Question of the table being used? I understood that all balls come out the same end on a pro am but in this video it looks like the cue ball is coming out at the head of the table . Why is that?

That's not what happens in the video at 1-1 with Mike having 7. The discussion about the "missing" ball happens at 38:30 with the score 1-0 Efren.

The non-foul does happen around 1:24:00.

Could be a SmartTable.

Thanks for the correction, I’m getting old!

I've known a pool hall or two where if you aren't a regular you would be best to avoid the place. They cheat you while accusing you of cheating. If this video is an example I'd say Mike's place fits that description.
I’ve never met the guy, so my first guess is that he honestly thought he had 7 balls. I’d also bet his eye sight is not good enough to see the ball move, but accused Efren because he was still upset. I wonder if he’s watched the match by now and realizes how wrong he was…

He accused Efren of stealing one of his balls. A guy who owns a pool hall makes two "mistakes" in one match? Maybe he is mistake prone. Either way definitely bad action.

lol. The whole thing is on tape. I don't know how Efren could continue. I would have unscrewed, packed up my stuff, and walked away.

Mike was probably tired. Guess what happens sometimes when we are tired? Our true character is revealed. Accusing the greatest player of all time of being nothing more than a typical cheater is absolutely pathetic.

Or he wasn't tired. Same deal. ;)
