Fedor vs Alex money match starts tonight. Who do you guys like ?

Where's Dennis when you need him,? Looks to me like Gorst and Filler are taking the game to a new level. Looking forward to the next major where all the top guns are there (Europe and Asia, including Taiwan). USA is no longer a factor - Reality.

So does that put Gorst up 50–35 after two days. I don’t understand why they are just showing a daily score instead of a cumulative score if it is a race to 75?

I think they redid the bet after the first day due to a racking dispute and now it's a race to 50.

Well, I'm not shocked. Gorst can pull away at any moment if he feels like it lol.
Like the rest of you, I love Alex-- great guy!
But he's getting up there in age and the young European studs aren't to be taken lightly.
For perspective, Alex is considered one of the best one pocket players on the planet. Young Fedor rarely plays it. But we all know who won the DCC One Pocket.
And we all saw how Josh Filler toyed with and humiliated Tony Chohan in a one-pocket challenge match a year or two ago.
These European young guns are the future of pro pool. Only a fool would think otherwise.

Let’s not get carried away. The table conditions we’re not set up for a long one pocket match. Tony gets on a tight pocket table and either of these guys can expect action from the top three one pocket players. I still like Tony over these two in a long race format on tight tables where your nerves are tested.

I'd say Gorst has a bigger advantage on tighter tables. He's probably the most accurate shooter on the planet right now. And if you bet on nerves getting to him I suspect you will go broke.

Yes. I think!

Maybe, but the European Youth Billiard programs are pumping out ringers at this point.
Speaking of Pinoys, Roland Garcia has been playing very well as of late, nice to see him get a second wind:cool:
There is no such thing as a European Youth Program. Federations are responsible for their national youth players. But all countries do have youth championships and they are willing to train and look for proper information. And some of them have government support.

i was gonna ask you in pm but i'll ask here: manila open 2023, is that a possibility?

matchroom has added two new major open tournaments for 2022, both in europe. CSI/predator is branching out to puerto rico. asia is sadly overlooked. in fact we don't know who the worlds best player is at the moment because of the travel bs that's been going on.

were you involved the last time in manila, around 2006-2007? curious to know what practical difficulties there were and if it would be easier/harder to do today. if matchroom won't do it i hope someone else does.

I dont know if the the 2023 Manila pen is possible. What I do know is that the organisation at that time was heavily dependant on government funding and probably still is. Or Manny (Pacquiao) should give it another try....

I believe Alex can fade giving 5 games going to 30 against Gorst. Moving to the template has eliminated Gorsts edge and to me it appears Alex has an edge in the safety battles that's all he needs.

Going to be a great battle tonight.

Wasn't it a couple years ago that the US had 4 in the final sixteen of the US open? And didn't SVB and Sky both beat Dennis pretty handily this summer?

An obscure American, Shane Wolford, made a deep run through the DCC field taking a few big scalps along the way. Relatively unknow Christopher Tevez claimed a victory over Carlo Biado. Josh Roberts and even T-Rex continue to improve their rotation games. Max Eberle played really well, I thought.

US has players with potential, I just wish they could all play well at the same time on the international stage.

So I watched the match again this morning on the loop. Yes, Alex led much of it, but, it sure seemed like he played a little timid. JJ even commented on it. It's really difficult to count Alex out at anything pool related, but, we need to pay close attention to tonight. Fedor hasn't even caught a gear yet, fact. May just be the end of Philo dominance guys, especially in these 10 ball matches... wasn't that long ago Filler crushed James and SVB dominated Dennis by about 40 games... Some 50+ matches I'd love to see....
Chang vs Fedor
Filler vs Big KO
Shaw vs WU
Albin vs SVB

"Shoot pool, Fast Eddie."
"I'm shootin' pool, Fats. When I miss you can shoot."

I think Shaw in 9 ball could replace Any player.

That Scotsman puts more packages on his opponents at this point in his career than anyone else I've seen/consistently.

He's always is a threat to run out any set.

I don't feel that way about any other player.

I know a few play his speed, but they don't do this as often.

His consistency reminds me of Earl in his prime.

I'm not sure if he has the same mental toughness and determination as Dennis. That's what sets Dennis apart from the pack (IMHO).

IIRC DO beat SVB last two times they played.(120-119 and 120-115 at Bill's) Don't remember Sky beating him. Sky is the dog playing everything but maybe banks. They are the only two US players with any chance against the Euro/Asian/Filipino top guys. And not a really good chance at that.

I would Not bet against Shaw in long sets, no matter who his opponent is, at this point in time.

The difference is most of those guys have already peaked and will be struggling to maintain their top speed from here on out. Filler and Gorst are just kids who are probably going to get even better (scary thought for everyone else). In short, the gap is likely to get bigger and bigger.

Why dont Gorst play Alex some 1p??

Gorst did win DCC 1p afterall. I see Pinoys getting into bad action. Idk how alex beat gorst in the previous sets. Long race, Gorst all day long.

Maybe Biado vs Gorst.

I think they redid the bet after the first day due to a racking dispute and now it's a race to 50.
It seems quite amazing to me that a planned major publicized matchup like this would not clarify racking rules and stipulations before the start of the first session. I can only assume it was not to Alex‘s liking, based on the 15–25 first session deficit? So did they throw out that entire session like it never happened?

Alex paid for the option to throw out the score from day 1 and start fresh in a race to 50. My understanding is that the price for that was 6k.
