Visualize The Pocket

One method I use from time to time is to visualize the pocket writing 5 to six inches in front of the object ball. This takes the back of the ball out of the equation. I use it on short as well as longer shots. It is my go to approach when I’m not pocketing balls as well as when I might have a question on where to hit the back of the object ball.

What does 'writing' mean? I'm also confused when people say front or back of the ball. People take it different ways so don't take it as an insult.

Are you saying you pretend the pocket is 6 inches away from the object ball?
