The one thing I notice about snooker players compared to pool players is how they each address the table before shooting. There's like a slight pause before they bend down to shoot. Some pool players, I think, shoot to fast and don't take the time to address the table. Jimmy Reid was a big proponent of addressing the table.I think this is the first time I've really watched a match (besides the many Ronnie's 147's on youtube). The shots really are similar to both straight pool and one pocket. Even bank pool (the safeties).
I'm sure it is sacrilege to say this, but I don't like the rounded pocket edges on a snooker table. A ball shot straight down the cushion should go in the pocket. Having those rounded edges takes away too much offense from the game. Its amazing how many fewer shots are available on a snooker table compared to a pool table. It seems any object ball within 2-3 balls of a cushion is a no-go. Those types of shots are the bread and butter of pool.
I also notice the players seem to favor the overcut side of the pocket, and to even brush the inside curve of the pocket. I guess they are bigger that way.

The race to 18 seems so long. I worry about 46-year-old Ronnie running out of steam. A 17-day-long tournament. Judd is 32 and may have youth and endurance on his side.
This is a nice little incentive right here --> Winner pockets $629,674 (500,000 pounds), and runner-up gets $261,469 (200,000 pounds).
