Jayson Shaw's 714 becomes 669?

Employees also steal out of the cash register when there are 4 cameras trained on it. Motivation to get more drugs is powerful.
Exactly. Like politicians' powerful motivation to continue getting more years in office as they are presented with irrefutable audio or video proof that they did indeed say or do what they deny ever having said or done.

Isn't that what Mr mosconi did?

What Mosconi did was unplanned and a courtesy to his friend, the room owner. They did not expect to see such a long run and Mosconi wasn't deliberately trying to break any record. He was simply doing something he ususally didn't do which was to continue running balls in an exhibition match after the match number was reached. The fact that a record was established is ONLY because someone in attendance drew up an affidavit and it was submitted to the BCA for their consideration. Other longer runs were claimed by others but there were not sufficient witnesses willing to testify that they had seen the runs from start to finish.

And wasn't his record run the one the beat for over seventy years?

Officially it was absolutely the one to beat. But not because of being established in a formal high-run contest setting. It was simply the defacto record because it was the only one officially recognized by the BCA.

Hasn't that precedent to keep going in the middle of a rack been set for almost 70 years?

No. Because there weren't any "rules" or procedures established UNTIL high run competition events were created. At that moment the rules that the participants operated under established the format going forward. That said, without being "official" in some way then we get to where we are right now.
Answer to all 3..... is a resounding YES.
No, the answer is not a "resounding" yes or even a quiet yes. It's a resounding "no one agrees" :-) But fun for discussion fodder. I think that it's important that these things come up and be hashed out if we are expected to really care about these types of records.

That's possible but it would also diminish the magic a little. Concerts are a bit different because you're going to see a live performance of your favorites. I mean it might increase show sales as well to have the DVD out there. But at the end of the day it's John's content so if he doesn't monetize it then that's on him.
I agree it’s his video and he can do what he wants. It’s not a cure for cancer or anything.

I am not a lawyer, but in a court of law where everything was done on the square, {hahahahahaha} Mosconis record has no chance of standing.
If John Schmidts tape was edited before a review board could see it, it is probably unusable as evidence also. So, the only possible contender is Shaw , whatever the number was.
At least that's how I see it, and I really don't care what anyone that doesn't agree with me thinks , as you are obviously mistaken.

I feel the same about myself, I have a 1000 ball run in me that I cant get out.
This should help:

Where can I find a copy of the rules this high run were following?
Look under "Precedence"

Not to mention every run started from the break in all of these Legends attempts. So it broke their own rules.

Ihho a run is a run wether a piece of a shirt hit a ball or not. It’s an exhibition right? So who care if his shirt grazed a ball. The man ran 714 balls in a row despise the ridiculous all balls foul.

To me it seems like they are only looking to discredit his run.

Maybe he farted and a ball moved but I never saw it so I’m gonna allow the 714 to remain as the top run because he made 714 balls in secession!!! That’s all that matter to me and you all can debate it but he ran 714.

These ‘high run’/‘record’ attempts are interesting, but IMHO rather irrelevant. Until the BCA sets a strict/rational standard, at least. Since all the previous instances are so loose/variable, they should likely start completely fresh. Since many major 14:1 tournaments are played on Diamond equipment with tight pockets & faster (?) cloth, why not make THAT (etc.) a precise standard? As a certified ref should also attend/manage/rack, no template would be used (as a salute to historical greats, though the most precision-made triangle available would obviously be mandated). The ball placement for the opening break shot should also be specified/standardized. Official video/time standards would eliminate a lot of grousing. Highest quality balls/chalk would eliminate the need for cleaning. THEN, high run records would really be meaningful.
