Just got kicked out from tourney

I definitely do, does wonders for the ego
You have a point. I haven't worked my ass off developing my game just so I can lose to better players. I lost just fine before the practice. I wouldn't continuously get in a tournament with a weak field for the boost but it's nice to enjoy some success because this miserable game has damn sure given me plenty of humility.

This. Also maybe it is a little bit about the money if I’m being honest. My game has skyrocketed in the last 4 years. Worked my ass off. I’m way past the break even point $, so I no longer throw myself in the fire just to feel the heat. I know exactly where my game is at, my days of willingly donating are over.

That doesn't look suspicious? Like next time you are there he might give you an easy draw?
If it looks suspicious to you I don’t know what to tell you. Most tournaments I play around here are all computerized draws and brackets. Maybe in a small town people could come to that conclusion, but to me it’s tipping for a service.

I don't play a lot of tournaments, I don't know what the etiquette is.

That's the way it goes and you can only go to the well so many times.

Quit being shy and mix it up with the big boys. I bet you'll win a few.. and lose a lot, LOL

I have never ripped a td and have been real good enough friends with a few. They've never half ribbed me about their cut...

I have never seen a td tipped, in fact.

I tip heavily if it’s a bar tournament and the waitress or bartender is running it.

If it’s a pool hall and the TD is getting paid I wouldn’t tip as much usually.

If one of the players is volunteering then I might or might not tip. Generally at least buy them a drink or something.

I ran several tournaments a week for several years and I don’t think I ever got a tip. I never expected it. My compensation was a free entry so I could make some money or not.

When I started winning enough that people complained that the “TD gets to play it’s not fair” bs then I started training other players to do it and phased myself out.

Yeah, dude...sometimes I think people's definitions of A and B players vary greatly. I go to some "B" tournaments here...and some of those guys play sets for thousands, and might run a 4 or 5 pack on you. A players are just a different animal, and I think sometimes we have lowered the bar on what a true A player is.
There is no "B" player alive running a 4 or 5 pack on anyone...

Never seen it happen in my area either. Guys that run tournaments get a percentage of the total take. So they're getting paid for their efforts

Let me understand this Tournment Director gets paid by venue like Fast Food Work doing job of drawing names, call matches, move ing name from ine bracket to another, enforcing rules, checking close shot to be legal, last paying winners.

House pay them to do job, and your tipping percentage of your winning. What %, and why, I see no reason for tip, or gratuity.

Your effort won you what? Pocket changed? Now your sharing with TD?

The is almost no money in bar tournaments after vomiting, quarter in bar box or green fee. Say event gos 5 - 6 hours what did you make aftrer out of pocket? Less then
Pimpled face kid make at fast food joint.

Tournament Director should get minim wedge for time on job, $12.80/hr. In AZ. Winner is guaranteed zero, their shill land em in first place.

Remember old North Lounge, if you won a Tuesday 9 ball event first paid 50-75 bucks, nothing left to share. Deduct Gas, etc, TD wss making more then winner.

You misunderstood. Those that run tournaments in my area do not get tips, nor do they get paid by the venue.

Say for instance total entry fees collected are $1,000. The guy running the tournament would get a percentage of that off the top before prize money is paid out.

In that scenario I wouldn’t tip the TD. How they get paid varies a lot around the country.

Well like I have said many times, the tournament I use to play in were small ones.

Think 20 or 25 entrants, Bar Owners, or employee ran.

If winner got 75 bucks it was big deal.

Never saw need to Tip any TD.

Not sure how this works at DCC, never been, never heard.
