Which Pocket...

would you shoot this at? Are you left handed or righty?

Ran out and left myself this... I chopped it in the right pocket. I shoot right handed and pick that pocket for 1PKT a lot... What about you?

I keep looking at it and every time I look at it my reaction is left pocket with crisp low to avoid a scratch in the right pocket.
I shoot right handed also.
Either pocket it is pretty much the same shot ( even though the cueball seems a little to the right side of the table) and it comes down to preference, comfortablilty.
I would have no problem shooting it to the right though if that was my pocket in a one hole game.

Shooting in the left pocket (my choice) is not a scratch, the cue ball will hit the cushion about 6 inches from the right pocket.

Before my break from pool for a couple decades I cut a little better to the left and I would have cut it left. For some reason during the intervening years I have started cutting right better than left. The one pocket thought has merit too. The only time I might take the other pocket by choice is playing a lefty. I figure they have to shoot at their more uncomfortable pocket only about eight percent of the time. I spend far more time shooting at my more awkward pocket so it may be worth the bother to me to be a greater bother to the lefty.

To the right for me but I certainly wouldn't condemn anyone cutting left.

Right handed, left eyed. My vision center is just left of center. I typically shoot this shot to the left.

I do not mind the left. I’m playing for love of the game only..no bets involved. I think there is a balance as to what pocket is an advantage depending on the shot/angle.
I’d shoot that shot either left or right. Would bring cue up table and leave on my side.

Either way. One question, would you try to hit it on the thin "safe" side or just make it? I always shoot at the hole.
Safest way is to make it! LOL... usually if I tell myself to play it safe in case I miss the shot... I miss the shot... What's on your mind goes down your line -- I know it's a fishing cliche but it goes for billiards too. To me, anyway.

shooting to the right pocket is not a scratch either to my eye
measureman i know your response was to philly
i ,like you 8cree have developed a preference to the right from one pocket but i practice to the left alot now so either pocket is fine
i am left eye dominant and right handed just for the record
in my head i see the cut to the left as more of a back cut than the cut to the right
even tho its the same angle.... 😱 😱
anyone else crazy like me ? 😂

???? When you say "left" pocket you mean as we view it in the picture, correct?? To me it looks like shooting to the right pocket is a back cut and to the left pocket is a fuller hit. I'm shooting this to the left pocket but I can miss a cut to the right or left equally well. :D:D I'm not going to attempt to draw out of this either, I'm hitting this with a rolling cue ball and hitting the short rail. I have banked the cue ball to the same pocket as the object ball too many times to trust drawing out of this shot unless I absolutely have to for position but this looks like the last ball.

I always play position off the money ball.
Never leave an opponent a makable if I can help it.

The 9 ball is beyond the foot spot. There is no way to scratch in either pocket unless you really work at it. You would have to get pretty good draw on the cue ball to get to either corner pocket. There is a possible scratch on two cushions, but only if you hit the ball too hard.

Cut to the left for me.

Right.

I make a higher % of shots left to right than right to left. I just see them better.

The left looks like the correct pocket, however because I know for certain im
More likely to make it in the right pocket that’s where I’m shooting it.

I’m not worried about a scratch with either pocket

Cool pic
Fatboy 😀😃

Here's how VP4 models the shot with a rolling CB at pocket speed and "scratch" speed.

The top pics show the balls on the head and foot spots, and the bottom pics show both balls moved a half diamond forward (my estimate of their positions in the OP's pic).

For each layout the aim line is identical for both speeds - notice how the faster "scratch" speed shots have less throw, cutting the OB left of center pocket.

None of these slow-to-medium speed rolling CB shots come close to scratching on either end.

If I (left handed, left eye dominant) have a preferred cut direction for this shot (I don't know for sure), I probably slightly favor cutting to the left, as shown.
