Pool fads?

Inspired by another thread, I started thinking about wether I've seen any short term fads in pool (that very wildly popular for a short while, then disappeared)? I'm not talking about cue/equipment brands , more maybe special cue types, accessories etc. Truth is, I can't really think of any off the top of my head. Anyone remember some? Am I forgetting something obvious?

I would get one but I rotate through 3 different cues all with a different pin.
And I'm not going to buy 3 of them, I'll just use a bridge.

Critique? Is a mid cue extension not as good as a 60" cue or a rear extension?

SARDO worked well, was big, heavy, and pian to carry n store.

Lots of small gizmo for Tip care that are like fishing lures. Cool looking but work crappy, only fish they catch are dumbbell’s.

Never even got to try it. I wish there was a product like that, that worked for sure.

It was a terrible product….changed the playing conditions for the worse.

That was kinda cool for the time. Showed ghost ball location and tangent line.

Perfecting Aiming was a fad on this very forum for years, and you could even get phone lesson from its inventor.

I am thinking what next, do it your self brain surgery with pen knife, and do free like to U/Tube.

The cheap template racks made those things a bit useless. I actually think the template racks are one of the biggest shifts in pool for price/performance and in general, along with LD shafts and faster smoother cloth. Instead of a $50-100 fancy rack you have a $5-10 easily carried thing that does the job better under most situations. They have had a huge impact on the game.
