Since this word "FEEL" seems to be the major issue for decades, it might as well be bled to death, or it'll go on forever. And
hey, it's MY thread. If you don't like it or think it's worthless, I could give a crap less. STAY THE HELL OUT AND GO POST IN
THE NPR OR CUE SECTION. Quit whining like a little baby who doesn't have a nipple on their bottle to suck on.
What is "FEEL" and how is it applied to Pool AIMING based on the dictionaries?
I might be missing it, but I just can't find a definition or example of usage that applies to: "I can't SEE that damn contact point or fraction on the OB but if I keep going back and forth, up and down enough I'll FEEL where it is." (IOW, it's as good a guess as any)

Feel - Definition, Meaning & Synonyms
If you put your hand on someone's arm, they will feel your touch; if you give them a piece of really bad news, they will feel sad. Feel means to be aware of a physical or emotional sensation.www.vocabulary.com
So, in aiming does that mean my feel would be the same as your feel and everybody else's feel?feel Add to list Share
If you put your hand on someone's arm, they will feel your touch; if you give them a piece of really bad news, they will feel sad. Feel means to be aware of a physical or emotional sensation.
Feel is most often used as a verb, meaning to physically touch or grope something or to be conscious of something emotionally. There's also a noun form of feel, which describes an awareness of something or the physical property of something, like in the sentences, "This place has the feel of a palace," or "She told me it was cotton, but it has the feel of silk."

Does when it "looks right" guarantee that it is right?when it "looks right"
I assume it's a gut reaction. Like taking a short cut through an alley in a big city and having an awareness of something not feeling right? Could be the case or the imagination creating that "feeling".is an "awareness of something"
I can see where if you are guessing until it “looks right” might be considered feel.feel Add to list Share

cookie manI can see where if you are guessing until it “looks right” might be considered feel.
But if you are using exact defined lines until you get to that exact place you need to be is there really any feel involved, I don’t think so.
Following directions to get someplace as opposed to just stopping when it feels right are two entirely different things.

Here's a golf video regarding AIM and ALIGNMENT and I did it for 2 reasons. First of all, she's smokin' hot and pleasing to look at. But she also illustrates how what we "feel" or think is online very well might not be. Very similar to the pool stance, body alignment, eye alignment.
Exactly. And the way Stan teaches it is to get the eyes and body aligned while in the standing position behind the shot (like the golf instructor) and then move down into it. At that point the aiming and alignment is OVER. Anybody who is playing ROBOCOP with their head and eyes going back and forth once down is doing nothing but guessing and more than likely out of position to home in with exact accuracy.I can see where if you are guessing until it “looks right” might be considered feel.

The point of the golf video is she also illustrates how what we "feel" or think is online very well might not be. Very similar to the pool stance, body alignment, eye alignment.i will let you answer your questions .
i only used the definition you provided for feel and showed how it could be related to aiming
which i think was the intent of this thread.
as for the video
at first it was lil chris who used the word feel alot in the first few minutes of his explanation of cte
as for the golf video whats your point?
Yes because you have a checks and balances system with CTE. When down on center CB i can still see my lines that i used for my set up to know I'm where I should be.cookie man
have you ever got down to shoot and got back up to go thru your routine again?
i agree you dont aim when down on the shot so i am not sure to whom that is directed. The point of the golf video is she also illustrates how what we "feel" or think is online very well might not be. Very similar to the pool stance, body alignment, eye alignment.
Aiming and aligning is also done from behind FIRST as Stan teaches and then drop down. NOT just come into the shot from any direction and then start aiming at imaginary and undecided contact points or fractions back and forth while you're down on the CB.
so its doesnt look right sometimes?Yes because you have a checks and balances system with CTE. When down on center CB i can still see my lines that i used for my set up to know I'm where I should be.
I know because my CTE lines aren’t lining up. Just to add to what you are getting at, yes sometimes it doesn’t look right. At that point I can easily check my CTE lines while down on the shot or get back up and start over. Still not feel.so its doesnt look right sometimes?
or you "know" you are off
your "intuition"/"feel" sends an alarm and you check your landmarks.I know because my CTE lines aren’t lining up. Just to add to what you are getting at, yes sometimes it doesn’t look right. At that point I can easily check my CTE lines while down on the shot or get back up and start over. Still not feel.
I would consider my last stroke as where the feel or the word I would use is subconscious takes over and controls the speed of the shot. I do believe you have to let your subconscious control your speed for a given shot.
Those who get down on the shot and can't make a decision where to strike the OB because it doesn't "look right" or indecision based on the correct aim point until it "DOES look right" and then they miss the shot.i agree you dont aim when down on the shot so i am not sure to whom that is directed.
Yes, it does happen but you stand up and start all over again. You have to realize something, which you apparently aren't, with CTE you are ALWAYS able to see exactly what and where you're aiming because it's done with a crystal clearly visible and defined WHITE EDGE OF THE CB on only a few places on the OB along with CCB.of course you aim from behind standing up and walk into the shot theoretically aligned properly.
even with cte i would think (i admit i dont know) that a user could believe they have all the visuals correct and are aligned correctly but they are not.
We don't necessarily see differently but we do need to get our head position, body and stance position, arm and cue position consistently done for each and every shot based on how we DO see. Dominant eye might play a role but not identified properly for alignment as well as nearsightedness or farsightedness. But that's a different set of issues.the reason there are visual illusions and misperceptions is we all see differently and some are innately more accurate and other need to work on improving this skill
So, there's no such thing as a false alarm, correct? Please define and explain landmarks and how they're linked up to begin with.your "intuition"/"feel" sends an alarm and you check your landmarks.
That's OK, then I'LL just nitpick with you.if you dont want to call that feel
we can agree to disagree
I am ok with that
i am not going to nit pick with you.

Where in the hell is my being argumentative coming into play? The way it's going back and forth, YOU could just as well be thought of as being argumentative because nothing that Cookie and I say is sinking in and you continue to come back with the same repetitive points that we can't seem to break through the barriers. It's frustrating for US also.spidey
cookie said the above "At that point I can easily check my CTE lines while down on the shot or get back up and start over. Still not feel."
i used landmarks in place of CTE lines

i think you are incapable of a discussion without being argumentative.
life is too short for me to nit pick with you
its not that important to me.
