Well, it's not that simple.
According to the website of the Smithsonian Institution: "Currently, the total number of artifacts, works of art and natural science specimens in the Smithsonian’s collections is approximately 155 million. ... Only a small portion of the Smithsonian’s collections (estimated at less than 1%) is on display in the museums at any given time."
It appears that material about Mosconi (or at least most of it) is not on display. Rather, it is in 3 boxes at the Archives Center of the National Museum of American History (one of the Smithsonian's museums). This includes quite a bit of material about the man, not just the certification and affidavit related to his run of 526 (which has been digitized and is available online). About the only thing I think all camps have agreed on with this thread is the BCA needs to lift their game.
They take too long on everything.

Beyond the BCA, the WPA is just as bad.
Look at Predator, Matchroom still messing around with professional events.
It should have been like Snooker decades ago.
Set professional pocket sizes, slate drops, and make all tournaments the same.
Easier for organisors, players, manufacturers...
After that, like Snooker, there are NO arguments about records.
As, anything broken is on a professional table, in a professional event.
Which is where one day, I hope a professional 14.1 record can be set.
Other records like most packages in 8ball, 9ball, 10ball.
Fastest runouts.
Etc.. all would be legit, on a standardised platform.
There is another thread going on here at the moment about getting pool on TV.
