Whitten not taking orders

I ordered mine around Labor Day '21 and it arrived on new year's eve '21. I paid the extra $150 for the 4 month delivery versus the regular delivery that at that time was going to be Nov '22. My case was brown leather with genuine ostrich. Beautiful case. If you were looking for something from him I would call to confirm details and if he still does his quicker turnarounds for the extra fee. He was very easy to deal with versus most others.

I already have my case from Dad. I was looking to get another one done, I guess I’m screwed on that now.
I have a custom Whitten case I ordered in 2019, completely bespoke, including the arrangement of the tubes. Joe's work, attention to detail, and customer service are of the highest caliber. I can see why he would not want to endanger the standard he has achieved by hiring outside help. I'm also very happy for him that he has garnered such demand, it is well deserved.
Great to see a US case maker getting this much support.

I love my Whitten case. I keep my best cues in it in the closet.
It’s one of the older Whitten’s and it is a bit heavy and you need to load spacers in the tubes depending on shaft length.
My everyday case is a JB rugged.

If you want a Whitten you can order a Ginacue and it will be delivered in a Whitten 
And training them for all the detailed hand and machine work required for this specialized craft.

One thing is for sure...it's gonna be perfect! Nobody makes 'em like Joe!
it never even occured to me to have them make one for me, i had only seen very seldom the 1x2 cases for sell
never a bigger one

One thing i don't agree with is why isn't Joe hiring people to help make cases. You can still have a few employees and have just as high quality control.
Pretty sure JB's shop in China has a small crew. Don't know how many but its just not one person. I like his stuff but i'd only buy in-stock cases. wouldn't want to fade the possibility of his 'unique persona' kicking in to gear if something went sideways.
Could be that his present shop layout does not permit additional people. Can't have folks stand around because of physical limitations.
This topic came up when I was recently talking with Joe. Paraphrasing for him, he basically said he cannot control quality to the extent he feels comfortable with if there was someone helping him. He's apparently content with making whatever living he's making in his one-person shop. BTW, his sister is REALLY hot. I'd work in his shop for free if his sister was hanging around there.
