FYI, I just posted the first in a series of videos showing impressive shots by Florian “Venom” Kohler in super slow motion, filmed in Vegas with Pubo Huang. Shots captured include: fouetté shots with draw and follow, massé shots, near-vertical jump shots, and classic trick and exhibition shots including “The Hustler” cut-draw-massé-carom shot, the Nut Cracker jump shot, and some artistic 3-cushion billiards shots. Venom, Pubo, and I will post more videos over the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Enjoy!

I want to be first to say I am going to like it.

Isn't there a dbl hit on the extremely close jumpshot?

I don't think so. Watch it again, focusing on the CB to see if its trajectory is altered. I don't think it is. I will be doing a follow-up video with all the jumps we captured (some double hits, some not). Stay tuned!

Did you leave it just see if anyone was paying attention?😉🙂

Nope. I know almost nobody really pays attention. 🤓

I watched it again and think it is triple hit.😉

I assume you are talking about the near-vertical jump here:

If so, I would admit that it might be possible there was 1 or more glancing secondary contacts, but it is certainly not clear based on the motion of the CB and the imperfect camera view, background, and lighting. Regardless, there is certainly no clear evidence to call a foul, even in super slow motion.

Anybody else have thoughts on this?

What is it that makes venom such a great trick shot artist?

Mostly, lots of dedicated practice. He also apparently has fast-twitch muscle fibers that allow him to generate lots of cue speed very quickly. He also has lots of fancy equipment, everything from extremely light jump cues with hard/heavy/stiff tips and ferrules to extremely heavy and large diameter masse cues with very soft tips.

But it is mostly about lots of practice with a little talent thrown in. He also started young and has been at it a long time.
