Lots of APA Drama Lately

"I didn't see any point in mentioning the event to the league office" but you will hold them responsible? That's like the guy who complains about sandbaggers but "doesn't want to name names". Don't bitch if you don't want the league office to do anything about it, and don't bitch about the league office if you don't want to point out the offenders. You're being a hypocrite.

Maybe APA should put THAT question on the membership application. "When someone lays their hands on you, do you attempt to kick them in the balls?" It must be on the TAP application - how else would they know to keep that guy out of their organization? In most APA areas, if that HAD been reported the kicker would be gone and you would be warned not to put your hands on anyone like that again.

You have to mark the pocket in the apa that you are shooting the 8 ball into. People use their pocket chalkers, or some other object which stands out. You are suppose to do it, even if the 8 ball is hanging in the pocket and it is 100% obvious which pocket it is going into. If you dont mark it, even if the 8 ball is blatantly obvious, some teams will call you on it. (at least when i was on the apa years ago, not sure how it is now)
You and I play in the same region. I had a very obvious hanger after a safety battle. I did not mark the pocket and just said, "side" as I plopped the ball in from 3 inches away. Was blatantly obvious to everyone there,(my opp even left the table area after the safety battle loss), Actually, APA rules state there is no need to mark the pocket when the shot is undoubtedly obvious. ( I looked it up later.) Most LO's say to mark the pocket in any situation, (just to reduce the likelihood of them getting involved I'm sure!)

To the OP" you sound like a compassionate soul, but I would steer clear of ppl exhibiting anger. Sounds like you touched him more than once and he didn't like it,(his warning you should heed). Not saying what he did was right at all, and honestly I don't know how I would have reacted,(assuming I was capable!) :censored:

This brings a story to mind. A true story. Back in the '80s at the Mustard Seed 2 in Bellevue WA. It was early Saturday afternoon and I was seated at the corner of the bar waiting for the usual ring game. A couple of guys were playing a recreational game on the pool table adjacent. One player was standing next to me and facing the table. A drunk coming from behind him did a knee dip on him. A trick he learned in school. The player was leaning on his cue so his reaction was to choke up and spin around and place the butt along side his head. Right at the temple. Sounded like thumping a watermelon. Dropped him. The response by medical and police was quick. The Drunk wanted to press charges. After listening to my account, the policeman told him, "if I charge him with assault I will have to charge you with provoking assault. Do you still want to press charges?" The answer was No.
I just heard Michael Cohen using an assault analogie that indicates that unwanted touches are assault. Some forms of assault are more painful than others. 🤷‍♂️

Come on. APA rules on this topic don't say, nor have they ever said, anything about "undoubtedly obvious". What they say is that you lose the game if you don't mark the pocket and your opponent calls loss of game. That gives your opponent an opportunity to do the right thing, which most, but unfortunately not all, do. If I have to get involved in this call I first try to talk the opponent into doing the right thing, but if they insist, I rule loss of game then remember to play rule book with them first chance I get.

Thank You. Sadly I can tell exactly how that rule . happened. First was likely the call every 8 ball. Too many people who APA league is their greatest achievement, made the 8 in an obviously wrong pocket and they didn’t have a shred of decency even after being called out. If integrity was more than a word people like this cannot spell, no one would have to call a shot. The physical marker my guess is the same thing happened except the liar claimed everyone else in the room misunderstood. Funny thing is the opposite happened to me while warming up with a kid who was also waiting on tournament to start. I admittedly am bad about not calling shots that may not be obvious to someone. I shot, missed, waved at it rolling into the wrong pocket. I went back to my spot and the kid hasn’t moved. He thought I was changing cues and it had not occurred to him I missed. Point is, liars cause rules like that and everyone has fun when nobody is cheating. It’s not NASCAR or the MLB home run race
Been playing APA 6 years. Never had the experiences guys like this whine about.

The league got me back to shooting after 45 years, and it helped me meet a lot of nice people. And, a few douche bags who complain about how BCA is better. Alot like AZB, I guess

A "chick move?" Really? Honorable behavior is manlike; dishonorable behavior is womanlike?
Raise of hands for gender of ball kickers that are male………………… and now female……………..

My scientific study revealed female accounted for 100 percent of ball kickers people knew of in real life. It’s not really different than what I called it. Have you actually seen guys do this?

I've never seen an adult do it. Probably 3rd grade was the last time. But hey, I'm only 67. There's still time.

I’ve never seen an adult man do it . 2 or 3 women I don’t remember which. There used to be a lady that lived here 40 some years. She was literally known for it. Legend said she never missed. I know 3 baby daddies and two city officers that would testify it was factual and not a myth. Saw one of the officers when he got his induction into the club . Ever see a horse kick someone in the face and it seemed to defy physics? Handcuff the horse against a patrol car and change face to balls in the story. Made my stomach hurt to see it, but it was impressive.

I agree. WTH, somebody tries to kick somebody in the nuts and gets away with it? I don't quite understand why that wouldn't be reported? I mean, I can see people get mad and maybe brushing the hand off their shoulder, but too aggressively try to injure somebody?

No, I tried to get his attention several times. Before he kicked me he said "Don't ever put your hands on me!", and I backed off a little. Then the strike came. I should have left him alone, but he had expressed a lot of anger throughout the match and I thought I could smooth things over and he would end the night in a better mood.
What was there to 'smooth over'? He was being a dick and your first reaction was to make him shake hands with you, which os also a dick move...hope you learned something...I dont condone the ball busting btw

Not on purpose. That’s called incidental contact. If we are counting incidental contact my 15 month old has been reigning world champ for about a month . He needs to hurry up and get taller or stop leading with his head and running full speed towards me
