How do these diamond tables play so badly? vid

I'm a very experienced player and there's no way that only typical conditions accounted for this. Something is wrong with rails, cloth install or table. Did you even watch the video? I'd like to hear from someone who knows wtf they are talking about. A table mechanic, diamond rep, etc. because these tables are screwed up. Not trying to argue about other things here

You asked for an expert opinion. It does not get any better than getting it from RK. You do not have to accept his answer but there it is. Otherwise go directly to Diamond....ask if that table is typical. You'll get referred to RealKing

He didn’t say anything worth anything. The balls are dirty? Give me a break. What more did you expect?

From Badboys Texas State Championships. Blue label 7ft Diamonds. Incredibly short rails even at slow speeds. Cue ball doesn't slow down much. I assume rails were replaced or something wrong with cloth install? Never seen anything like it on a Diamond

To be clear... I love Diamond tables! Just these ones are screwed up
And the humidity level in Temple, TX is 100% right now, 100% THAT HIGH AS HELL!!!

That's how they all play! I don't understand why anytime this comes up someone says the tables are bad (install problem). They are like this straight from the factory, all over the country!
These are more than likely old Red Label Diamonds, which had a design flaw where the rails were slightly angled downward at a greater angle than optimal. The modern Diamonds bank great. I had an early 9 foot Red Label that severely jacked up my banking and position play when I lived in Florida. The year I practiced very heavily before DCC after coming back from Iraq, I ran a 5 pack on Joey Gray, and had John Morra down 2-1 in the first round of the One Pocket (the next round after he won the Banks). I lost both matches due to the bad habits I had developed on the Red Label. Got too thin on a ball in the 6th rack against Joey, and just about jumped out of my skin trying to "hold" it (due to the need to hit such shots with extreme spin and/or perfect speed on the Red Label...), and in the One Pocket against Morra, I got a few opportunities at 45-ish degree cross corners to finish him off, and simply was unable to adjust, as those particular banks are EXTREMELY speed sensitive on Red Label Diamonds.

And for the record... I got a Matchroom-used Diamond 4 1/4' pocket table coming in a little under two weeks here in Germany. I have never been so excited in my life!

Clearly RKC can't accept other possibilities such as the rails have been replaced or some sort of install issue. Well it was worth a shot to learn what went wrong here but ego wins out in this case

It's not typical that's the point of the thread..

These have blue labels but maybe the rails got changed out or something

Look dude, you're still talking possibilities, and I'm telling you the facts! The tournament used Diamonds have NOT had the cushions "replaced" since they were built, and those are the same tables used in various other tournament supplied tables, so there is NO install issues, none! Get over yourself that its my "EGO" buddy, I have the FACTS!!!

Changed out for what???? With what???? 40 tables to an 18 wheeler load, being taken to tournaments, set up, over and over again, what did they do, make a pit stop somewhere and unload all the tables, change out the rails with God only knows what, then loaded them back up, and on to the next tournament!!!!

And you're full of shit with the humidity.

I just checked the humidity level right now in Temple, TX and it's at 97% buddy!

Yeah I think RKC is exactly right. The temps are cool right now (72 degrees), so the AC is not running enough to get the humidity down to a normal level. I’m a couple of hours west of Temple and we have the same scenario.

Seems strange at that speed the angle would close. The ball did bend on the last leg and went in and out perpendicular. Bizarre.

When the nose cushion to ball contact point gets damp it grabs the balls almost like playing on a table with no rail cloth installed. The balls roll around in almost perpetual motion. Lol. It makes for weird rebound angles as well. The next time you wipe your table down try and play a bit with the nose cushion contact point still damp. The balls will hop off the cushions.
