I reached for my copy of “Billiards” by John Grissim to look up something, and I started reading the cover jacket, and found something I missed!
Check out who the photographer is!!😃🤩😍

I had that book years ago. If I remember right it had a picture of a young Efren. I showed it to him and a seemed like he had never seen it. I had him sign his picture. I later sold it on eBay when I was getting rid of stuff. I would bet who bought it is on this forum.

I sold some Johnston city stuff to George Fels. I don't think he bought that book though. I also sold some foreign language billiard magazines to the actor Paul Sorvino on eBay. We later exchange some emails and he sent me a copy of his book on asthma.

It is. I think the location is notable, like the billiard room of the Jefferson Starship or some such. ...

... well, let me look at my collection copy ...

The back cover is a continuation of the scene on the front and features Elaine Brown, Bob Bills, David Singer, and Bald Eagle, besides Bob Byrne. Bills was the owner of Palace Billiards in SF. I don't know about the others. The acknowledgement says, "The photograph was taken in the magnificent billiard room of the Airplane house, home of San Francisco's Jefferson Starship, to whom I extend sincerest thanks..."

I have several extra copies of the book in various conditions starting at $50 shipped.

Paul was a like a brother to my very good friend Charlie Ursitti, they were both on the board of that foundation.

In 2012 I was at the Burbank Elks to give lessons. Charlie called Paul and told I was in town, and we arranged an early morning private Saturday 2 hr. lesson for him. Hence my avatar.
 
Well, I spent a little time on google and that Elaine Brown could conceivable be "a former leader of the Black Panther Party." About the right appearance, right age and right location.
