I think I only watched about an hour total of this tournament. A few min here, a few min there, of various matches. I noticed no slow play. Did you all notice any slow matches?

If true they were all a good pace, I wonder if Emily told the players to pick up the pace? Or, maybe the Vietnamese as a whole play at a good speed?

Certainly double the speed of the US open early rounds.

Preface I'm legit colorblind. Is the 4 on the table a different color than the 4 in the ball tracker graphic? It looks to my colorblind eyes that the 4 on the table is pink, and the 4 in the graphic is blue. Would someone set me straight what the colors of each actually are?

quite a few of the unseeded were good vietnamese, taiwanese and filipino players
I really hope they do more and more events in different asian cities. The standard of 'the average' player, is strokes above anywhere I have played in EU/US (granted I've only been to 7/8 states and mostly Western European countries).

I hope MR events encourage more of these players to travel around, and get more recognition, and up the standard of the worldwide 'average player'

yes, i agree. a manila open should be a no-brainer. i don't know if they've had qualifiers before this event but several of the unseeded are playing L64.

the kid playing now, regalario, beat dennis 9-1 yesterday and did a similar number on a veteran pro in the peri open

Veteran and living legend Ralf Souquet knocked out Anton Raga 10-9 in his L64 match. Anybody know how this match unfolded? Souquet has been going deep into a lot of these MR majors lately and it’s very impressive.

he broke very well in the US open. but yes, it's surprising for sure, and impressive

A little cheer for Jan van Lierop (NL) for reaching the last 16. He won against strong opponents and this is already a great result.

Niels Feijen 6-2 down against Yapp..
Edit:9-4 down and now 9-8 Go Nielsssss
Edit 2: Posting this always gives bad lick

The Filipinos dropped like flies the last two knockout rounds. Only 3 left in the last 16 (Feliciano, Corteza, Amoroto).
After beating Raga 10-9, Souquet subsequently gets blanked 10-0 by FSR.
SVB currently up Albin 7-4 to get in the L16.

I'm shooting for this Kyle Amoroto kid. He showed great composure in his win against SVB in the preliminary rounds. We'll be hearing a lot more of this kid.

Shane's defensive/safety game is worse than mine in this tourney.
Terrible decisions coupled with poor execution.
You pretty much have to try to give up the advantage to come out his badly.
