Matchroom Major event -Hanoi Open (10-15 October),Vietnam, Winner $30K

indeed

one of the few guys left in the game today that will play aggressive despite odds in favour of safe

Ko has been doing that too recently and the viewing is so much more fun

Just an awesome tournament.
The final was epic.
Shaw couldn't beat Ouschan playing safe....he beat him shooting the tough shots, letting the cueball fly and rolling the dice.

The 9 on the spot with a magic rack is really a different game. Cueball goes wild on the cut breaks...leads to alot a scratches like the one Albin had.

Ko Ping Chung has a hell of a break in this format in my opinion. Really interesting to see the difference in styles/play

Really great watching, a much better paced, and more entertaining tournament than the US open

Loved the crowd in this match. This one will be fun to watch going forward.
This was surely the best crowd of the year. They went crazy during introductions, cheered during player practice, and cheered good shots, good rolls, bad rolls and everything in between during the play. That's as it should be, and the players ate it up. Only the Mosconi Cup generates the kind of enthusiasm we got from the fans in Vietnam.

To the Vietnamese fans, all I can say is well played.

I just watched this Efren vs Do Khai match from right before the finals. It was a good time for sure. I recommend if you'd like a smile.

Just watched a long highlight video of the finals. My take on this was as follows.

Number one, the lady ref is by far the best referee there! She knew what she was doing, where to stand and how to watch. The only ref I saw who did that correctly. No wonder she was working the finals! Number two, the table. Mr. Sung got it right, straight cut pockets that looked like 4.25" or less. They proved to be a proper test for these good players. I saw a lot of missed shots and anything from distance was a challenge. Pool as it should be played at the highest level! Number three, Jeremy Jones! I always liked listening to his commentary but he is only getting better with age and experience. He has that clear clean voice and comfortable speaking style. He is fully aware of what's happening out there on the table and in the player's heads, and is able to articulate that to his audience. No idle chit chat with JJ. His one bad habit of stretching out his responses too long seems to have disappeared. Short and sweet works best in the commentary box! I liked JJ before, but I really like him now!

In the match, it was all about Jayson and his excellent shot making in the end. This table demanded good shotmaking and Jayson came with it time and time again, allowing himself to come back from a 10-5 deficit to win 13-12. Albin seemed to get a little tentative toward the end of the match, while Jayson was playing with confidence, although Albin did make a good break shot in the final game only to get an unlucky scratch. Hill-Hill final game! Nothing better in 9-Ball! Enough said. Meanwhile take a good look, Jayson ran out that final rack like it was any other ordinary rack. Many players would labor over the final rack, walking around, looking, calculating, but not Jayson. He played like he would play any other open rack. Bang, bang, bang, you're dead!

Like so many of you, it was nice to see a good crowd who were enjoying the game so much. Have a nice day!
