How do these diamond tables play so badly? vid

You want me banned? You're back for five minutes and threatening violence.

But yeah, come find me at Quball 1. We don't have any god forsaken Diamonds and a slow to react constabulary.
I know right where you're located, on the corner of broke back mountain and dueling banjos!!

Come on down, boss. More Go-Go than banjos. A big tuff guy like you should be up for the challenge.
With the junk tables I see in that pool room, it's no wonder you don't have Diamonds, it's clear you can't afford them, let alone be worried about being open from one month to the next!

40 pages of posts, mostly about cobra ranting off , insulting others all the while trying to pump up diamond tables and claim to know it all, while sharing absolutely nothing interesting of informative. . Is he their sales rep or something? what a way to sell.. ;-)

He's far more knowledgeable on pool tables than any of us will ever be and is well known as one on the top table mechanics in the country. He does come off a bit brash on here although there are a few on here that like to egg him on. He is very helpful one on one and is always willing to answer legit questions.

Otherwise known as "40 pages of trolls baiting Glen, because they know he is a passionate guy who knows his stuff cold, and who doesn't brook fools well".

Fools who have brand new accounts, and are totally not the same old trolls who've been banned before, and created a new account to keep trolling.

When did you sign up on the forum, again?

I joined 8 years before you and I still put his stupid a** on ignore. I could care less whether he's the best table mechanic in the world or not. The shit isn't rocket science. Thankfully they have the ignore option here so far as I'm concerned he's gone. If more would just put him on ignore and not engage he would go away.

When your are rattling balls on a Diamond its because you are missing the pocket. I would much rather play on a Diamond than a Valley where each table plays vastly different and you can hit the rail a diamond and a half from the pocket and watch the ball fall.
I've seen balls hit within the pocket facings rattle more times than I can count due to the shelves. That is why I won't play on them. I play mostly on a Valley with 4.5in pockets so it's not exactly sloppy but it accepts balls that should fall unlike the diamonds. Don't get me wrong I like tight pocket tables for practice. Heck I'll practice on a 10ft snooker table with pool balls. But for tournaments or serious play I want a table that plays correctly and 7ft diamonds once the cloth is broken in do not imo. So I just avoid them as it's not worth the aggravation. Personally I'm at the point in life where I would rather not play then play on tables I don't like. But as in life to each his own. If you love'em then more power to ya.

Well, for accuracy's sake, not that it matters, but I been here under this name prolly since the day AZ billiards forum was stood up in it's original form. I checked some old threads under this name, and this one goes back to at least 2006. I believe in the "old" version of AZ billiards, I was "Pogue", and my jousting with Smorgass Bored is how I got the nickname "Short Bus Russ", long before he died. I been hanging out with the same folks on here since the days of rec.sport.billiards.:p:D

Going back to "Short Bus Russ" now.

My only point was it's not just people that joined recently or that continue to make new accounts to troll with that dislike Glen or diamond bar boxes. I don't doubt ya and my memory isn't that great even if I did. I would venture a guess and say I probably lurked around a year or 2 before I even made an account. Back then I was just trying to learn all I could about the game and YT wasn't really a thing, least not like it is now.

I agree. This place is his kryptonite. Great to deal with on the fone. He tends to 'go -off' on AZ and i like jerking his chain because of it but he is a top mech.

I think Diamonds do play correctly and Valley's play very, very easy. Most times a ball is rattled on a Diamond it is because the ball hits the rail on the way to the pocket and the ball is hit with too much pace so it rattles. if you aim for the facing it goes every time.

I'm not seeing any shared knowledge hapening here. where are these informative posts hiding ?

This is where things get a little dicey IMO. The statement "should fall" is somewhat subjective. It's almost like saying, "that putt should have gone in the hole." I'm sure that there are legitimate variations in table play...believe me, I have played on Dynamo bar boxes before, and I almost swore that there were no pockets on those tables.

A ball falling, or not falling however, can also be attributed to other factors as well...Shot speed, skid, throw, etc. I think for the "average" player, we're always looking to blame something on a miss, when in fact, the bottom line is that maybe the vast majority of "us" just aren't that good.

I'm sure that there are a few pros who have the necessary accumen/ability to discern subtle table differences. If every ball that was ever stroked found the bottom of the pocket, Fargo wouldn't be "necessary."
Just thinking out loud. Carry on.
😎

Diamond's have deep shelves, i think everyone knows that by now. If you don't hit the pocket clean its not going in. If you're rattling balls on a Diamond with ProCut pockets you are missing the target pure and simple. Valley's are like shooting into a laundry basket.
