Predator WPA World 8 Ball Championship 2023 (17-22 Oct 2023), Austria, Winner $75K

World 8-Ball was resurrected by Predator recently, so men are to play it annually. I could only hope women get their fair chance to have a world championship at 8-Ball as well. So far there were none, right?
Yeah, that would be nice for the women. I've got to give a shout out to the event producer, by the way. Staging the men, the women, and the juniors simultaneously in a single venue is an impressive accomplishment.

Yes, it's very odd, although there is a men's World 10-ball in March in Las Vegas, so maybe it's not such a big deal. Then again, having the women play chess while the men play checkers does feel weird.
So do you think there should simply be no World 8 Ball championship at all, or 8 ball played by professionals in general?

Although I'd rather watch any of 9ball, straight pool or one pocket, I think 8ball is a nice once a year diversion from the more mainstream rotation pool games. That said, once a year is enough for this fan. Mostly, I'm delighted for the players for the opportunity that this event has presented for them, and I hope the World 8-ball will last forever.

Comparing break to chinese 8 ball pool, i don't understand why it is not used often at "regular" 8 ball... Neither the 9 ball break is used at 8 ball... Both work if the triangle gets placed correctly.
Albin slamming Master chalk lol he said he doesn't remember last time cue ball skiped at him... He must have forgotten the two skips in a row against SVB.

We always called that "slow rolling." Same thing when someone would look contemplatively at their opponent's revealed hand to give him the hope that he had won the pot, before turning over the winning hand.
We use that term also.
