SVB is still a top player in the world, but I don't think Gorst or Filler would be scared to play him in 10 ball and certainly not 9 ball. In fact, they would likely be favored- especially in 9 ball.
In a long nine ball race, I can't even imagine SVB beating Filler or Gorst.
He did. And I for one, applaud easy-e for reminding us that Mikey was one to cut up his backers. I don't give a crap if pool in America is a tough way to make a living. SVB doesn't have any such reputation, as he seems to be very aware of that being a good way to end one's career prematurely, as American pro prospects are very much tied to one's integrity in gambling matches. I say good riddance to bad rubbish.
And I say he's not even that much of a favorite at 10 ball, if either one of them took enough of an interest in practicing their 10 ball break heavily. For now, not much benefit to be had, until there are multiple well-paying 10 ball tournaments per year. The ONLY advantage he has over them right now is the break, and that is not all that pool excellence is about. Ko Pin Yi and Ouschan success at world titles prove that.
Yes...but not since all the negative stuff. This forum is much to quick to dogpile on to pros. Thus almost NONE of the current batch post here. Even the more Social Media savvy types like Fedor. Or the ones that do use it as a bulletin board to post an event but never contribute or interact. Alla CW.
Mike in this case, deserves every bit of it, for so gleefully dumping a backer. The internet never forgets.
My guess, Russ, is that Shane can't beat Fedor at ten ball, either. Fedor's ten ball break is as good as Shane's and the rest of his game is better. What has SVB won at ten ball in recent years? At 10-ball, Gorst is a tougher out than Filler, but I don't think SVB can beat either of them.
I'll happily eat my words if SVB wins the Bigfoot, the very stiff test of 10-ball excellence, at the International a week from now.

Thanks. I'd completely forgotten, but his path was an easy one, with Gomez in the semis and Konrad J in the final. I was noting more that SVB's not been successful in the WPA 10-ball events, including the World 10-ball in recent years, making the case for calling him the best in the world at 10ball difficult to make.
I'm looking forward to seeing how he does against Filler and Gorst, who likely stand in his way for the Bigfoot title at the upcoming International. It should make for some great viewing.
Nice, and surprising, to hear. He's generally not found at Derby City, and I don't think he has competed outside of Europe since his injury. The two-time World 10-ball champ may just be the favorite if he is ready, but in his World 8-ball commentary, Albin Ouschan mentioned that Kaci's injury is still slowing him down a bit at the pool table, offering as an example that jacked-up shots are especially difficult for Kaci right now.
How often is Gigantor jacked up? Dude's tall as a tree. For me, I don't think he factors in the top three unless his break is on -really on. imo, he lacks the firepower to shoot his way out of a rack like some others do. Perhaps his consistency makes up for that.
Shane has the firepower but lacks the defensive game the top players have.

Holly moly, so much hate for Mike. Did he piss in all of your cornflakes? So what, he's not an angel? Who the hell is? I have read all the "stories" about him the past 15 years. Saw him play in person a few times. Big deal. No one is perfect. What got him in trouble is he did some "pool room counter talk" online. I have zero problems with him, and happy he posts here once in a while. I'd root for him if he played big events again.
I really enjoy watching him play, he has a high gear and very creative. Just a POS human.

The past is history. Mike has moved on to another chapter in his life and I wish him every possible success.
Let’s clear the air before some keyboard warriors get out of hand. The situation Easy E is referring to is being a little exaggerated. There was a “hustler” coming to town that wanted to gamble with a local named Super Dave. All was asked of me was to play pool against that person and beat him, like I would have tried to do anyways. That player was just trying to present a lower speed than he was to entice action. All in all, nothing ever happened. So I don’t know why Easy E is relentless to push this false narrative. You need a hug.
