Yes, the idea has been kicked around but let's see if it comes to fruition and in what form.

Why, if it was run up to a larger one, that engages a large segment of world population? Mosconi would still be huge event, and gives nearly all the players on matchroom tour a year long race to raise their profile as well

Agreed. No event has a greater brand identity than the Mosconi Cup. I don't see it ever being a play-in event to something "bigger."

they should just go ahead, stop messing about. they have the formula, it's not like they have to start from the beginning. now they even have a venue they know will work

Hey, who would of thought they would of done Jrs before this. Evolution. Some try and rush, others like MR have dealt with pool players for how long now. ? It's like raising a kid, takes time/energy and allot of listening and awareness.
