DCC... UPDATE

the 1 pocket rule changes will be VERY interesting to see how they play out

I'm actually surprised they made any changes.

Looks like limited entries, (but does not state what the number is).
No walkups allowed if field is full.
Rule changes to 1 pocket at 2, 3, and 4hrs.

I do think they should have went back to race to 7 on 9 ball. They only went to 9 to appease the then WPA "rules".

No longer WPA event right? MR event afaik. Going to 4.25" pockets slowed it down too.

They are using the ''edge of ball'' ruling for the head-string, not the base of the ball to determine it's position.

I "think" it's been a WPA 3rd tier event all these years, including last year, since changing from races to 7 to 9. But, Predator is also WPA tier (maybe even 2nd tier?), and they have goofy races to 4 plus the spot shot. So whatever WPA "rule" made DCC change to 9 games years ago can be thrown out the window, IMO.

When it says “No live streaming of matches without permission”….what is the likelihood that Fedor and all the others who basically bring a lightweight tripod will still be able to do it? Or is it only going to be like just Railbirds?

Because what a bummer if that is gone.

I hear ya but there are those that PAY for the rights to stream. Its not a stream free-4-all. If AccuStats and PoolAction have to pay so should everyone else.

That’s fine as long as they drop the entry fees back also. Which ain’t gonna happen.

The Accu-Stats arena and the PoolActionTV Action room are completely different than what I am talking about for the side tables. And it’s fair to say that the action room isn’t really part of the tournament officially.

On Fedor’s YouTube channel, I counted at least 26 matches for 2023 played on the side tables.

I remember stumbling across this post about a guy that played him first round in Banks and was able to share the match with his family.

It’s the small things like this that matter. It is why lower level players enter in to the tournament with a chance to get a great draw in the first round.

If the organizers don’t have an option to broadcast the side matches and a player can be polite and unobtrusive with their setup…I say let it keep going. That is why I am curious about what will be allowed and why it was added to the rules update document specifically.

No offense but why would they ever lower them? People line up to play as is. They had to put field limits in order to get done 'somewhat' on time.
Lowering the race is a good way to make it faster. So is the field limit. But if their limit is 500, well then that won’t do squat.

I get it, believe me. Problem arises when a bunch start showing up with cameras and bi-pods. They have to draw a line somewhere. Its Diamond's gig and they make the rules. Just be glad there is a DCC and not worry about stuff like this.

That normally only applies to the banks and most losers do not re-buy so its not that big a deal. I see your point tho.
