Rhino CF shafts....159bux, free ship

My 12.4 radial came today. I’ll make a video later, but it is really, really good. I was making just about every shot. So it’s either about the same as a Revo, or super close, in the deflection department. Everything else about the stick was good.

Just the tip is a mile long. Ha ha.

They have a winner for sure.
I had my tip shaved down a bit.....Did you notice that the 30" length includes the tip????

Coming from maple, I first tried the Revo 12.9.
It was my 1st real LD shaft. I then switched to Cynergy, then the Revo, then back to the Cynergy.
At first, I felt it deflected a bit more than the Revo but later found that it was in my stroke.
A Cynergy, hit with a smooth, accelerating stroke, has virtually no deflection. The only difference in the two to me was
the Cynergy lacked the plink sound and felt a bit more like maple than the Revo.
There is a young guy at a local room who shoots with a nameless, mystery CF shaft and that thing plays every bit as well as the big names.
He doesn't know what it is but they could outsell the Rhino if they are similarly priced and did some advertising.
The point is Predator may have been the first, but the LD market is now "open source".
With a hidden label and wearing headphones, I could not tell the difference between several of the good ones out there today.
I live in the stone age, having never even played with a low deflection shaft. Been playing since the late 90's. I wonder how someone like me would adjust to the carbon fiber sitch?

very quickly. if you're used to reg. defl. why switch? i grew up with hi-defl. old-school and now use low/mid deflection. still have a hi-def cue too. going back and forth is not that big a deal. prefer the low, makes aiming with spin easier.

I guess I'm just curious. But no, I guess I've not got a big incentive to switch from old school maple.

Been playing since the late 60's early 70's, and it's my first venture into the carbon world.
My reason for trying it is not having to take out dings, smooth the shaft and basically having the same feel on every stroke.
We'll see how it goes.

I started playing in the early 90's and used solid maple until 8 months ago when I got a Cynergy. I hit with other carbon fiber shafts and really wasn't a fan of the low deflection aspect. For me, the Cynergy played as close to wood as any of the carbon fiber offerings with the feel and sound the closest to wood as well. I can still swerve the cue ball and do just about anything with the Cynergy I can do with wood. I like the consistency and the low maintenance aspect as well.

Emailed to see if the 3/8-10 shaft will fit a 3/8-10 modified. Predator says theirs will, but OOS and no 30". If the Rhino fits both, gonna order one for it. Fingers crossed.
Mine fits on a modified. At first it seemed tight but I screwed it on a regular 3/8-10 McDermott butt I had laying around, then it went on the modified perfectly.

I only switched because some dullard damaged one of my custom cues that came back from refinishing only two weeks prior.
I decided then that I would no longer bring a nice, custom cue to a pool hall.
I bought the CF because it's much more difficult to damage and if broken or stolen. can be replaced in a couple days with the exact cue.
No sentimental attachments whatsoever.

Im there. Went regular maple to carbon, on carom cue though

It will be fine after a bit!

I'm thinking it will settle in 100% after about 30-40 hr of play any after about 3 hrs, id guess I was 70+% in tune with it. I did whiff on quite a few thin hits for a bit.

I got a full cue too, so I'll prob have direct input from pool perspective by mid Jan but don't intend to use the new rhino cue for pool. Bought the butt to use for carom and it came with a free pool shaft!

I see that the Rhino carom shafts are 28". I guess that length includes the tip, too? Why does a carom shaft need to be shorter than a pool shaft?

Did you buy the Nebula cue? I'm contemplating ordering one. Unfortunately, the website only offers two tip sizes with the full cue: 12.4mm and 12.8mm Radial shafts. The shafts in the pictures of the Nebula cue look identical to the Radial shafts in the shaft section, so I sent Rhino an email asking them if I could order a 12.9mm shaft for the Nebula cue instead. I would prefer 13mm, but they don't make that size. It sounds like you might have already asked if you could swap the pool shaft for a carom shaft when ordering a Nebula cue.

Yes. The shaft is 30" with a 16"-17" taper.
I got me a Rhino Carom conical 28” , it’s awesome, so solid and fits my Cuetec Truewood with 4” extension…… Shaft doest wobble around at all , sounds like I’m popping popcorn in my garage !!!!!
