DCC back-up hotel rates.....................

I think that hotel was in the middle of a remodel the last time I stayed there (five years ago?). There's also a Holiday Inn Express close to that for about the same price if the Hampton fills up. There are some cheaper hotels close to the bridge, but check the reviews.

Yup, New Albany is a nice alternative. Lots of good food there. About 8 miles from the Horseshoe.

This is great news. The schedule for me is good too. Driving and train look like great options.

Its not Kentucky but I will try for Indiana.

What are the strong college teams for Indiana?

Any idea when late booking fees kick in?

It's a few miles over the Kentucky border. The local team would be the Louisville Cardinals.

I mapped it out, a bootleggers run if I drive.

Does anyone know the maximum limit for bottled Kentucky liquors for interstate traffic with a Class D license?

For me it will be a fun multi day tour of America.

Any recommendations from NYC to Indiana are welcome.

Thanks in advance. I drink but I will not drink and drive.

If you want to break up your trip, stop by my place in Ohio.

We’ll play some.

You win: I’ll give you a couch to crash on and pay for your first night at the hotel in Indiana.

You lose: You sleep in the tool shed and can never post on AZB again.

I am a yankee crossing state lines.

If I survive the trip give me general heading Ohio is a few hours on the highway, pulling off it is an unknown amount of detour.

I don't know winter roads. NYC winter roads are hell because of ice, salt and plows.

General traffic advice helps. Is there a lot of construction or does the night construction crew leave a lane open? Stuff like that.

Driving at night versus driving at day. Sometimes night is preferred because law enforcement. Other times day is preferred because speeding and accidents.

If you don't drive then just ask and post.

Hiw did you know I don’t drive? I have an Amish buggy I tool around town in.

Don’t worry about construction; it’s winter time.

Even though I don’t drive, I can tell you it’s better to drive at night with your lights off, so you don’t attract undue attention.

I’m less than 15 minutes from I-71, which is a main artery through the “Heart of it all.”

I thought you were a Russian farmer that rides a pony to town for supplies like water and candlewax and beets.

Thanks. I like to spend a few days researching the route. I am from the future where cars have wifi but some times the signals drop out in high density areas or in areas with no coverage. I will be probing the coverage.

A GPS blackout is not my favorite JAM.

I thought OHIO is where all the bears and beaver roam the highway. Then the parade of wolverines and the alligators cross. All in January during the migration.

I'd leave the Thurs night. Meaning Friday AM arrival, any nice diners or breakfast spots on I 71? If it has gas that is ok too.

What are the good gas brands around that way?

Don't travel on the roads at night in the winter unless daytime is not an option. If you think NY winter roads are hell, you have a big false sense of reality as to what real winter driving can be. Take it from someone that has lived on the edge of the UP in Wisconsin and now lives in north central Wisconsin. Wife and I shoot two pool leagues through the winter, one 32 miles away and one 36 miles away, and we are thinking of dropping one due to the winter travel. This year has been fantastic for driving though, but you know what they say about averages, next year may be miserable. Snow is not the bad part of night winter driving, it's the glare ice.
Anyway if you want to, and are able to go, just go. while some on here needle you I'm sure someone on here would put you up on the way and you would find things much more cordial than times on the forum. If no offers just go anyway and get a room mid way or make a long day drive out of it. Take Varmint up on his offer, you've got nothing to loose. Besides, we all would just love to hear about it.

Shoot, I can tell I’m losing you so I’ll sweeten the pot this 1 time.

You wanna be a bootlegger, I’ll put a case of Great Lakes beer in your car, so you can drink when you don’t have to drive anymore. I also have a never opened bottle of Lagavulin that you can have as much as you want while you enjoy the amenities if Casa del Kong.

As an added bonus, if you can beat my 7 year old in Just Dance, I will provide you with not 1, but 2 loaves of “Giant” Nickles bread and a bunch of American Cheese. Heat ‘me up on your manifold and you can sell cheese sandwiches outside the derby and make a killing.

I can afford to fly, but sometimes its fun to drive and see what America is like in person. To see it in the Winter is a tradition on the East Coast.

Winter driving is more dangerous.

Pennsylvania prohibits interstate alcohol travel.

I already posted it on the internet.

Unless you tractor beam my car over Pennsylvania, or switch it out, its a big job. A priest or someone that blesses the alcohol is the only exception for Pennsylvania. Thats on a free commercial website.

This is how drivers get arrested from out of state.

Which manifold?

You’ll already be past the state of P effin’ A, so no worries. Besides, that Dortmunder Gold is so good you won’t be bringing any back.

Don’t worry bout eating on the road. Anyone who enters my home will not leave hungry.

I should have final details by Jan 6. All signals are green.

Everyone brags about their local drinks. Asian reaction for allergies is a real thing. Is that wheat, potato, rice barley?
