They're lazy, and a part of the problem.Ps, why would they use Fargo to determine entries, but not report? That is asinine.

I have no rating. Just got back into playing again. Hadn't given much serious thot to this. Thanks for the illumination. Its possible now. Take someone experienced, lets say an A player, but took some time away from the game. Now he's back 10 years later, Fargo is brand new to him and there are Fargo 599 and under tournaments for 40k first prize. Maybe his real rating should be a 650. But he plays on the stall for a few months in rinky dink weekly events. And/or plays Saloto matches for $10 sets against weaker players and stalls. Maybe (likely) they are even his old buddies from years back, and they even help him. Gets 300 games in the system at a 550, or whatever minimum that 40k event has. Goes and wins the 40k event. He's got the perfect excuse, he can say he has not gotten in stroke yet, since he quit for 10 years. It will happen...
In the absense of these huge events, its a complete waste of time. But now that they are here, players just getting exposed to Fargo can take advantage. It could be seen as a goal to set up for. Like in the old days we all love reading about, a top road man (pro speed) would play like a C player for a month straight to take off the owner of a room.
Take me for example, I stink, so it would be pointless for me. But if there was a 400 and below event for huge money, it may tempt me to stall for a few months of weekly events at $20 entry fee a pop.
Pool is really growing again, after 15 years of decline. There are a lot of good players just coming back to the game who can do this.
Ummm... so their buddies can play with low ratings and not go up when they win? Just a guess. And/or players will refuse to play if results are reported.... Ps, why would they use Fargo to determine entries, but not report? That is asinine.
I've noticed that for nearly everyone local around my speed (640ish) that their rates have been uniformly going up a few points. I think the algorithm/calculation is just getting more mature with the quantity of data in the system. My Fargo has been slowly going up over the last few tournaments even though they are few and far between. I know I’m over rated as is. I need some pointers as to how to get it to go down.
Are those tournaments being reported to Fargo?Sometimes fargorates don’t mean squat. Mine is listed at 463 with 300 games in but when I play a fargorate tournament around here they make me play as a 600-650 based on “known ability”. I have a bad habit of overdoing it on the drinks during the fargorated tournaments though too.
They use digital pool for the brackets. You would think that me having to go 5-3 or 6-3 against another “460” would cause my fargorate to get flagged and increased but it never does.
Here is a thread with some info about possible rating inflation:... Even the top pros are creeping up when all they do is beat up on each other. Seems like the top 20 have gone up 10 points each over the past year or so.
I would call them "free loaders"Can I hold a hundred?

Tell us your real full name and we’ll tell you your FR, if you have one. PM me if you prefer.Where can man get his rating LOL?
I was told I was high 600 possibly 700 and I don't know what that crap means.
I grew up in an era when I was considered 90 speed and then eventually 100 speed. I'm assuming I am close to 900 or 1000 fargo then.
I don't have one because I wasn't let in tournaments without one.Tell us your real full name and we’ll tell you your FR, if you have one. PM me if you prefer.

With your name I can confirm if that’s true. Many players are in the system but had no idea they are.I don't have one because I wasn't let in tournaments without one.
If you can MURDER the ghost on a normal pocket GC, you’d be 700 range.Where can man get his rating LOL?

The world’s top pros are 840-850, so I doubt if you’re in the 900-1000 range. You’d be the sleeper agent of all time if true.
If you play the 9-ball ghost on a 9-foot table, and tell us your average score in races to 7, we could give you a close estimate of your FR.
Naw I don't play anymore. You don't need a Fargo rating to enter an open tournament.
Sign up with the big boys and go for it.
Along the way you will get a Fargo rating based on your record against those who play against.
Your starter rating is 425 until further notice.Naw I don't play anymore.
My pool fix is just the usual weekly tournaments and I don't even practice for that. LOL
I'm just curious to see where I would be at since I see people here and in real life talk about this rating. It seems like its a credit score for pool so I'm intrigued.
I had a 680 tell me he doesn’t even practice anymore and he is still a 680. His opinion on it is once you hit a certain level it’s hard to play worse than a certain level. So you should still be within 50/100 points.Naw I don't play anymore.

That makes sense too. I took 20 years off and within a month was already a 5/7 in APA. A lot of people never even get there. I’ve been a 9 ball 7 for 2 years. lol. Now I’m a 7/7…..Weird how the 8 ball level has increased but not my 9 ball. I go up to an 8 occasionally though. But I also can beat the 9 ball ghost occasionally on a 9 footer too. My avg ghost score is 5-7. Call me a sandbagger if you want. League is for fun and I don’t care about winning or losing there. It’s more my time to practice safeties. And yes haters. I throw up a 3/4 pack occasionally.
I’m in a $100 entry 599 event. Flew up for it just for the weekend. I have a first round bye. I also bought the favorite in the Calcutta
