Does anyone have any experience with the 860HR? it's on my new 7ft diamond pro-am and it's fuzzy and the balls slide terrible. I've had 860 before and it wasn't fuzzy and the balls didn't slide like this.

I hate it. I also have a 9ft pro am, about 2 years old, it had new cloth on it and it was nothing like this, I believe it's just the 860.

I've also heard that Simonis cloth isn't what it used to be. I thought about getting 860 and just replacing the bed cloth and leaving the rails with the HR or getting another brand altogether.

any thoughts? I appreciate it.

Take a look at this thread. I'd suggesting reaching out to Simonis. Apparently there was a bad batch of cloth from which a number of people experienced issues like you. Seems like Simonis is aware of the issue and will work with you if that is the case.

Simonis has had some issues in manufacturing due to their factory getting flooded in the summer of 2021. But their recent cloth is back to pre-flood standards.

Besides looking at the long thread linked above, just make sure a) it's geniune Simonis, and b) it's not installed upside down (the back side isn't shaved, so it's a lot fuzzier normally). Only way to do that after it's on is with a UV flashlight (about $10 on Amazon) in a dark room, look for 3"x1/2" Simonis logo and serial number that will shine under UV light every 3 feet or so (you may see only 2-4 on the entire surface). If you contact Simonis, they will need that serial number.

i would think the guy that delivered and installed it has it on correctly, he's a huge diamond guy, great guy. I might try the UV light thing and see if i can get the serial#.

I just went and damped it down really well and I am running a cool mist humidifier. the humidity is only at 30%. it's upstairs and it is really hot and dry, no windows.

I just installed 860HR and its' perfect. The serial number on mine is 18003728

a newer cloth will do that and if your old cloth was super slow you might be seeing more of the difference somewhat.
but only you can tell.

do the balls slide on kicks and banks? like really, really slide.
That is normal on newly installed Simonis but should change in a month. We love our 860HR. Received shipment in September directly from Simonis and installed in November.

Certainly should not be fuzzy. Your installer should have immediately noticed the difference, even before he installed it.

I have 860 hr blue/green it’s just over 2 years old.
No fuzz whatsoever. It does have half a dozen thread cuts & is showing some age and tracking..
it has not been jumped on , maybe next year I’ll try to find someone competent to install 860 hr as I never was satisfied with uneven tension.

take a clear picture and call and text it to whoever sold it to you. thats at least a start.
in any case if it is bad then your installer should be fired for putting it down.

Not clear to me. If the SN is visible does that mean it’s installed upside down? Is the SN put on the top or under side of the cloth?

The brand name and SN are on the playing surface of the cloth - so that you can confirm a SN after (proper) installation.

Something is amiss here as described by the OP. Perhaps a bad install job??? I just got my table recovered with tourney blue 860 HR for the third or fourth time back in the summer and I continue to love it and prefer it over the original 860. It has great longevity and plays great, though any new simonis will play "slick" for a period of time, as others here have noted. Good luck to the OP.

2 Installers in my area got away from using it. They both said the post-flood Simonis was fuzzy and they were getting complaints. Brian.

I just got my table recovered with tourney blue 869 HR for the third or fourth time back in the summer and I continue to love it and prefer it over the original 860. I have had simonis installed many times and used to do it myself. It's not right. The ball does not slide, it bends dramatically off any kick or bank. Several inches depending the angle. It's like you know how a cue ball reacts when you make a hanger with high English. That's how almost all shots are.

I'm going to contact Simonis Monday with the S#. I'll let you guys know.
