how are ya'll doing in league ?

Tonight was our " City " pool league and I won all 4 of my games and the last game I ran the table for a ERO needless to say he cussed me when I went to shake his hand ha ha
My teammates n this team are starting to shoot better during there games and are trying shots way out of there comfort zone as a team we're doing better every week !
One more a Seniors pool league on Friday !

Friday's seniors pool league wasn't as good as it could of been for me I was thinking about what I had to do after wards for the Walleye's Unlimited banquet and knocked in the eight ball as a fluke and rattled the pockets the next 3 games before shooting at the 8 so yes I dropped all four games .
Next week will be better !

I joined a local (Dallas Area) APA league just to get my feet wet again, and found out I need an entire shower. The whole team does really. After 5 matches in a double jeopardy division, we have squeezed out 11 wins in the 50 matches we have played. I'm sitting at 3-6 with a win I. 8 Ball, and 2 in 9 Ball. One guy has 5 wins, another 2 and one lady has 1.

Clearly I have joined a recreational team, and it's probably best the way I am playing right now.

It's my first time with APA 9 Ball. I was always resistant to it for all the obvious reasons others are too, and it's been, 25 years since I played in an APA 8 Ball league.

Despite strong misgivings due to so many negative posts here, I joined an APA league. I enjoy any competition, and this certainly provides it.

It's in a small pool hall north of Dallas. The tables are odd for APA, 8-foot old Brunswicks with 4 1/2 inch pockets. The cloth is deceptively fast despite looking pretty rough. Fairly tough tables that consistently barf out all but perfect shots down the rail at most speeds. It's a double jeopardy league, so we play 8- and 9-ball every week, 5 matches of each.

I started as a 3 in 8- and 9-ball since no one (including me) had any idea where I should be. The team captain was happy to get me as a 3 as that gave him some flexibility right away. I got scheduled for a couple of earlier week make-up matches and have played consistently every week as well. Three weeks in, I'm 3 for 4 in 9-ball and 4 for 4 in 8-ball. That's gotten me to a 5 in 8-ball and a 4 in 9-ball.

I'm pushing for weekly practice and feeding the team a stream of training videos on YouTube. We've gone from 9th and 8th place in 8- and 9-ball respectively to 1st and 2nd.

As a side note, we practiced a couple of times at Billiard Den in Richardson, TX. I'd forgotten how much I like the place. The tables are old-school Gold Crowns with the cloth in fantastic shape. The pockets range from very willing to wicked depending on which area of the room you're in. It's a great hall.

Got my a$$ kicked (again) last night, by an SL3. 17-3. Real discouraging. Stuff happens, right? She played far better than most 3's in my area, and she would have beaten me playing even, last night. Those nights happen. I sat there and didn't bitch and moan and pout. I just felt awful.

As my poor play continues, week after week, I'm getting closer to deciding whether to stop playing at the end of the session. I know you can't expect to win all the time. I just play so poorly, and have been for quite a while now, that it's tougher and tougher to keep doing this.

No, I'm not complaining that my Skill Level should be lowered. I'd hate that. I just want to play better, and not cost my team(s) week in, and week out. I dont have the ability to practice much, so its not likely that I'm gonna find a way to work my way out of it. So frustrating.

I could write the exact same post as you did, I am having a hard time winning, and I play decently. I am also ready to quit league play. I am mentally losing confidence, and wanting to say 'the heck with this !'

I have two different USA pool league teams. Eight ball on Monday nights and nine ball on Wednesday nights. 16 teams in each league.

We have the same core five people on both teams with an additional two different people on each team.

We just finished the first session of the year for both.

Our teams won both eight ball and nine ball and we have the league MVP player for each.

Nobody special here (fargos range from 360 to 550) and everybody is here to have fun, but they play their hearts out and want to win for the team.

Can't tell you how proud I am of these guys. 👏👏👏

Shot a 65 (ACS) on Wednesday while on garbage Valley BB's. Decent score, but it could have been in the 70's if I wasn't destroying the break as well as I was. Making multiples of both suits hurt me...lol.

Actually took a loss as well. I was struggling while on the 8 and my opponent had 5 left. He slow rolled a shot and though he had fouled, (no rail). I got in a pleasant argument with him by doing my best to explain that he didn't foul. Cut some fat off then story and he ends up running his last five balls to take the win...lol

Anyways, my team in CCS (ACS) is in first thus far, and my Masters team is also in first with a small lead and make up in hand. CCS is a long haul so who knows. The Masters is wrapping up after a couple more sessions so as long as we continue to play as we have. We'll take that reg season. Of course that doesn't matter if we drop the ball come playoffs.

For the most part I'm still winning more games than I'm losing , Wednesday try as I may I'd make a couple nice shots then scratch and I scratched more in those 4 games than I have in a month !

Today I hope to redeem myself and get back on track by winning 4- 4 games !

The VNEA team I play on is in 2 nd place with one more match before the end of the year tournament and then state and possibly nationals .

Playing my first APA session. First real (-ish) organized pool, tbh. The following text exchange with my teammate (who is also my younger brother) pretty much sums it up.

Time to get back to practicing. I really haven’t been lately.

9 ball regionals today. First match. First 4 shots. Missed 2 early. Played a kind of soft safety twice. The guy I was shooting was on. He got out of both safes, and broke and ran 1. He missed 6 times total the first 6 games, but 2 of the misses went in for him any way. So I was down 45-15 after 5 innings, and finally winning the 6th rack.

Well that sounds bad but I got me a little 3 pack on him after that nonsense. 7th rack I broke the 9. 8th and 9th B&R both. So I somehow got him tied up at 50-50. I’m breaking pretty damn good, but my brain decides I can’t scratch or it’s over. I set up the CB straight center and only break about half speed to make sure to not scratch. CB somehow finds its way into a pocket anyway and that’s all she wrote. Lost 55-50.

Second match I didn’t play very well. Even so I was still up a bit the whole match but just made too many mistakes. Lost it 55-50 also. 2-out. Bah!

Hey, but at least I got 3 high level patches.😢😢

im stopping all 8 ball for a time

at the regionals my first match i go 4-0 on a guy and then cant make a 4ball out to save my life and lose 5 in a row

never happened to me before this season and its happened twice

broootal, gotta step away dont know what my deal is
but thats a hard one to choke down
