how are ya'll doing in league ?

Our last regular VNEA pool league game was tonight we won as a team and will take no lower than 2nd place over all in the upper division .
I'm still in the top 10 overall out of 50 players , now we have to season end tournament this weekend and then the banquet next Tuesday .

As a team that was thrown together in the beginning of the season we've done very well !

Decided to go to another bar to practice. Ran a 3 pack and beat a solid player 5-0. Then played 9 ball ghost and won 9-3.

Last night I was on the struggle bus winning my first game and the next 3 games I couldn't keep from scratching after pocketing a ball or two .
When a teammate asked what my thoughts were for that all I could say was I guess I'm helping them get a false sense of security for this weekend's season end tournament ! Ha ha
 
I'm usually on here bitching about how awful I played. Last night was the exception. I not only won, but played as well as I've played (for an entire match) in a while. Won 16-4, didn't just squeek one out. I beat a player who has owned me the last few years. He had as bad a night as I've seen him have in a long time. And I didn't. A good feeling.

Now, can I do it again? We shall see!

I've fallen back into my usual rut during my Wednesday night league. It's either a 1 inning affair or slap them around till someone wins.

Once the single trip win is off the table, my motivation drops significantly. I know it sounds like a terrible attitude, and it is. However my typical action doesn't provide me with multiple trips to the table so to keep that performance edge I handle league play like I'm playing the ghost.

To make matters worse. My team is at the top of the standings, so I don't even have team accountability to keep me focused. Hard to use A+ focus when the B- game has us winning.

Ha most people dream of a 680FR's B- game. But I get what you're saying motivation/focus-wise. When I play with friends for fun we pay out beers for break and runs and chips/chocolate bar for a non break 9ball runout. We're generally pretty sharp on that first inning run attempt but as soon as it's off the table, the wheels come off. Not only do we miss some shots we usually wouldn't, the real killer is we attempt things that are fun but clearly not winning percentage plays. Just yesterday in a short session between work and dinner, I had a B&R and my buddy managed a 3pack. In between those, onlookers would swear we'd never run a rack in our lives lol.
 
Today was the last day of the Seniors pool league regular season it was a slow start we as a team gave away the first 5 games before our first win by the end of the match we regrouped and won by 3 games .
It's nice to go out on a positive note at the end of the year next s the season end tournament for the seniors !
I won 3 of my 4 games once again I rattled the pocket with the 8 ball ha ha
 
After day one of two for the VNEA league tournament my teammates and I played well and made it all the way through today in the winners bracket tomorrow we play in the championship match we all played well and made tough shots when needed and quite a few easier shots also ha ha !
 
After it was all said and done we took 2nd place , not to bad for a last minute team .
I made the 8 ball on the break 3 times without scratching sadly it's not a win in VNEA league , I won 2 of those 3 games and played well for the most part just not great .
It's been a long time since I've played in the situation similar with 4 bar boxes in a small space and all the people ha ha
Granted I'm certain many who have read this are saying something to the effect of Son you have no idea what a lot of tables and people are in a small space ha ha and you would be correct but I'm willing to learn !
 
Nearly everyone else in my Wednesday league is down at Niagara Falls this week for the CCS national championships (ACS).

I just couldn't stomach taking a week off of work to play on Valleys and give up the world in handicapping. I am taking part in the "advance+" team event on Saturday though. Will be just a day event so I'm driving back and forth.

Whole thing was originally going to be played on Predator BB. Something happened with availability though and truck loads of Valleys are in attendance. Shame... I was looking forward to it.
 
Up 3-1 in a race to 4, and I still manage to pull defeat from the jaws of victory.... stupid effing game
 
I'm down to I believe 4 weeks of our town pool league and then this Friday is the season ending tournament for the seniors league so I'm hoping to make a good showing for both leagues .
The VNEA teammates did well at the awards banquet last night sadly our state tournament team matches are for 4 players and I wasn't picked to play but I still wish them well at state and nationals if they decide to go that direction .
