What would it cost to hire a (semi) pro?

So I'm still thinking about innovating pool and I'm trying to get a full picture of the costs to get a team working on it. The idea would be to gather (video)gamedesigners and 2 pool players. The poolplayers would be brainstorming with the team about possible concepts and playtesting (ie: shooting pool).

To calculate what this would cost I'd need some rough figures. I am aware that many factors determine prices, but right now a rough estimate will do.

So I wonder what the approximate hourly rate would be for a:
1) Top 100 pro (US or European)
2) Top 500-ish pro (US or European)
3) Also I wonder what it would cost to hire +/- 4 Phillipino players for a day to playtest games.

I have no idea what you actually want to do, but you could reach out to Steve Chapin at celeris who develops the virtual pool series and was a semi-professional player with a lot of contacts.

You don't give enough information..
What do you want them to do, meet you at a pool hall, come stay at your house and be taken care of...or anything in between.

I recently met a person who had a pro of the highest level- currently redefining highest level- stay at his house for a week- there's a table in it- and he paid $5000.

$5,000 seems pretty reasonable, right? It’s gonna cost me double that to get rid of my wife for the week. And I can probably get a discount if it’s Shane, especially this time of year.

50 an hour for just a good A player

100 an hour for most pros that need the money with a guarantee of so much.

Be careful hiring pro athletes, they usually don’t have grounded expectations of financial compensation in the real world. They value their know-how more than their time. You would need an NDA and someone who is older and has had a career in industry at some point.

Yeah I would be more helped by someone who is top 1000 but really motivated to participate, than an elite player who just sees an oppurtunity to make some money.

I would look for a player(s) in your area who would probably shoot in the 700~750 range. Settle on a rate and duration and make sure they are into the project and not just trading dollars for hours. Bonus would be a former player who's "best before date" has passed. More knowledge with probably a little less execution than before.

For me passion and compatibility would overcome any fargo deficit.

I will work for charity.

I need volunteers at the Brooklyn Brighton Beach public library to help foreign Eastern European learn about life in America.

Gotham and Skyline will be the rally points for anyone working late and needs proper transportation.

Why would anyone hire you for anything pool related?

You can't play the game in real life and you are a joke of a human.

Prob worth some $ to keep you away. That's your best move.

Ask Carom Cafe if I brought a busload of college students to watch 5 minutes of an international championship.

Zero students saw the business potential for a global community inside a bar.

If I send faculty that has a different impact.

That makes no sense, given context is why hiring you might be justified.

And 5 minutes is sufficient time to assess things with 'global' implications. The fact you'd put that in written form really shows the amount of care and thought you put forth in general..explaining your ignorance, inability to follow through and squirrel!

What area do you live?
Netherlands. And I think, taking everything into account, that if, IF, this is going to happen it would be best to do it in Holland/Germany as there is quite a big gamedesign community in both countries and in Eastern Europe and enough poolplayers.

Unless there is an American angel investor. Then US is a possibility as there is a pretty vibrant boardgame design community too!
