Simonis 760 Fold Marks

Based on the expert opinions given above, I guess I have a few hundred tables that I need to redo..

In all of the years that I've been installing Simonis cloth, these fold lines are very common. I'm not sure why they are so pronounced, post-install, but it's visible on most that I've ever installed. I can assure you that the cloth is always properly indexed, and stretched very tight. It is also my experience that they disappear with time.

thats fine then thats when you should get paid.
i havent seen them in pool room recovers or personal ones. and wouldnt accept it until gone.

do you tell your customers it might or will happen and if it doesnt come out you will come back?

same as if i had my house painted a certain color and it wasnt but the painter said in awhile it will be what i want. i would tell him the same.

I think when it comes to having a house repainted the painter does a small sample section then has the customer approve the color, if that's the case if the house was then the wrong color that would fall on you. Even with the cloth the table mechanic doesn't make the cloth, he simply installs it, a defect with the cloth would fall on Simonis.

the paint thing was an analogy.

and any install is on the installer. if the cloth had a problem its his fault for installing it, not yours to correct. unless you supplied it.

Except its normal and happens at least 30% of the time. It doesn't affect anything and disappears in a few weeks time.

It does affect the guy who's paying for the job, as we've seen in this thread. It would be nice if the installer could figure out some way to make the cloth look perfect before he left the scene.

Probably not possible for the installer to get rid of the fold marks at the completion of the installation, but the least he could’ve done is clearly explain to the table owner about the fold marks being normal when the cloth is shipped folded up, and that they should go away within a few weeks or so.

I don't think I've ever seen fold marks, but I may be mis-remembering. I believe most Simonis commercial installations are from a bolt/roll of cloth, not a folded and prepackaged cloth. Is that correct? Maybe that's why I never saw a fold.

Yes, there would be no fold marks if the cloth is unrolled straight from the bolt or 1/2 bolt before installation. But if the cloth is prepackaged in single sets and shipped that way, there is no telling how long the cloth has been folded up.

In that case, no matter how correctly and how tightly the cloth is stretched, it will always take a while for the fold marks to disappear, but they gradually will, likely a little sooner if the table is brushed / vacuumed regularly.

You guys ought to play golf

no ones nit picking just saying it isnt the way the table should be after the installation. so if the installer had folded up cloth that would show in the finished product he should tell in advance that to the customer and then the customer can make his decision on how he wants to proceed.

if the installer surprises the customer with this and say s hey it will go away. why should the customer pay right now and be left in the dust if it doesnt.
if it doesnt i bet few installers will come back and re stretch or bring a new cloth.
