Best Pool Player you saw alive, regardless.

Wiktor Zieliński on the practice table. Never seen him play like that in a match. It was unbelievable. You could just tell he was not gonna miss a ball in a long time and he didn’t... Sky made about 15 tough banks in a row just messing around.. Mika was on fire. Actually I’m still easily impressed by most elite pros. Biado was unreal. I’ve seem em all and played a few but these stood out. Efren looked very human but I think I caught him on a bad day.

I watched Larry Nevel plsy I impossible safe jump off two rails on himself when I was 16-17 maybe, he got the next hit. He left, my jaw in the ground, nobody else had a clue. Sane place o digest saw a Schon cue.

I saw Eugene Browning do what he wanted on a pool table for days.

I've been to pro tournaments and I've played more than a few top 100 guys...and browning was the best I've seen.

Nice. I haven’t heard that name in over 10 years. I remember hearing a lot about him from old man Jerry in South Houston/Pasadena. I got to play him once in a tournament in League City…I lost, but he didn’t show the speed that I was told he had. He might have been past his prime.

I gambled with him a few times and I'm ahead and I bet the bills I won say FISH on them.

He couldn't play too well the first few weeks he was in town but he sure did get a lot better toward the end!

I also live in the sticks 👍so SVB is the only elite player I’ve seen in person. It was just a barbox 8 ball tournament. He’d break, look it over, then make his suit disappear. He was impressive. People were hassling him, challenging him to ridiculous spots. He never broke stride, just kept running racks.
It wasn't an arranged exhibition or anything, he just showed up one night. Mike actually setup the challenge matches, it was both hilarious and cool to watch. $20 to play him, 9-ball. Spot was he had to win 9 games before you made 1 ball. Yes, one ball. He got all the breaks, and he racked for himself using a magic rack.

I didn't see Mike lose once in the time I watched. One guy actually had a fairly makeable shot once, not a gimmie but a shot he had probably made many times before, but he got so nerved up, actually getting a shot, that he botched it. Everyone, him included, broke up laughing.

After a while of that, he ended up doing some crazy prop bets with a few guys, 7 rails and landing on a dollar, and other crazy things. It was a fun night, very low key. I've heard all kinds of things about Mike, both locally and online, and I don't doubt that many of them are true. But that night, he was cool with everyone. I'd love to see him come in and do that again.

I took this to mean “live” as opposed to on TV or video.

One Pocket: Efren
9-ball: Joshua
Banks: Jason Miller or Joshua Filler
10-ball: SVB
14.1: I never saw Sigel, Mizerak live playing 14.1. But on video, these two were the best.
You think Jason was better than Gary Spaeth? (you had to have seen Gary play when you were in Dayton area)

LOL. Danny, a most beloved figure in pool, is always mentioned in threads about the slowest player of all time. Nice guy, great player, but slow as molasses.
Watching Basavich play was almost like watching WC Fields' "Honest John". YouTube it if you haven't seen it. Hilarious.

I've seen Shane, Efren, Rafael Martinez, Fedor, Bobby Hunter after he came in second at the world championships behind Johnny Archer, Bustamante, Jayson Shaw and a myriad of others and the best ( by far) was Sammy Soto. That dude was in a league of his own.
I remember when everyone made a big deal about Strickland running the 11 racks and I remember thinking...."What's the big deal Sammy does that daily."

The hustle….we had some South Americans come through town played well made some money but lost to our big hitters and wouldn’t even play the biggest dog
If that’s it, don’t sound like much happened, anymore to the story?

Good story, never happened, Stephen King and Anne Rice will concur.
