Hopefully they will replace the junk cloth by then. I went there for a tournament about 3 months ago and there were literal 3 corner tears in the cloth that had been superglued down. On one of the tables I played the spot was worn white with a whole through the spot. Hopefully it was just about time to replace cloth. The balls were filthy. Hopefully they get their act together. I'm guessing I just got there at a bad time and they replace cloth before the big events.
Are there any Americans that are reasonably proficient at Chinese-8? I am curious who you would expect to do well? Obviously some top players have played it before, but with less than middling results (I know a guy who has taken SVB in a race to 25 by a surprising margin, and that guy looks very beatable on the American table). Some of the great American table players very much proved that it's a different beast during their forays into the game. I don't see as many taking part as I would have thought considering the $$$$$ available. Just curious which Americans are expected to excel, and whether there are any names that have made a solid effort to take on the green baize. There are still openings in the Heyball tournament. I hear Nick Varner, Corey Deuel, Kelly Fisher and Allison Fisher are entered.
Yes, you get money back just for showing up.

No chance. His fundamentals are not strong enough. Look at his effort to play snooker.Corey Duel maybe? If he worked for a solid month, he would figure it out.
Just looked it up. Wow. That was tragic. No chance. His fundamentals are not strong enough. Look at his effort to play snooker.

HUH?? Here he is playing a Ch8b WC. Corey's far from helpless at the game.No chance. His fundamentals are not strong enough. Look at his effort to play snooker.
Well, it looks like you have to sign the WPA Player's License agreement, and there seems to be a $20 fee.Do I have to join WPBA
he's actually one of very few US players that have ever competed at Ch8b and played it pretty sporty. Can't have bad fundamentals and play on those tables. Snooker is a HUGE adjustment in both tables and equipment. I think for any US player to have a 'remote' chance at snooker they'd have to quit pool and move to the UK and play it full-time. Even then it would be an uphill battle.in his prime corey was one helluva 8-ball player. one of my favorites along with efren, daz and melling
The question may seem silly, but wouldn't I have to forfeit winnings if I don't have a card? And will I be viewed as a professional if I fluke my way to a higher round?Well, it looks like you have to sign the WPA Player's License agreement, and there seems to be a $20 fee.
Here is the license: https://wpapool.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/2024.05.29-WPA-Player-License.pdf
I think membership is the WPBA is not required, but membership in the BCA is.
They don't play golf where you live. Nine foot snooker table and pool balls.he's actually one of very few US players that have ever competed at Ch8b and played it pretty sporty. I don't think the WPA has a concept of "professional" as opposed to any other kind of player. If you are really interested in playing, send email to the contact listed in the main article. I'm pretty sure you have to sign the player's license to play in the tournament. The question may seem silly, but wouldn't I have to forfeit winnings if I don't have a card? Oh yeah????? 10ft Brunswick Royale with 3.25" wickets. They play 5&1, 10&2 and sometimes 50&5 golf everyday. Golf is not regular pool by any stretch. Last bastion for old farts. They don't play golf where you live. Nine foot snooker table and pool balls.
