Americas Heyball Championship, July 2024

There are also a couple of Heyball events in Europe, both scheduled for September. First is European HB Championship, and right after is World HB Championship. Wondering how many best players from those two events get a buy-in at the Masters 2025.

HUH?? Here he is playing a Ch8b WC. Corey's far from helpless at the game.

2024 Corey vs 2024 Corey is not the same guy. So which C-8 event did he cash well in. Corey is/was a great player but his fundamentals don’t hold up to this discipline.

he played a certified WC at this game very close. US players only go play this big event. he's done better than any other US player other than maybe SVB. i don't know what SVB's record his playing Ch8b. My point is he's more than good enough to compete at it. for him to play Yubo that close says a lot for his ability. he finished 17th that year, above some full timer's. his current form is not as good, hell everyone slips as they age except maybe efren.

There are still openings in the Heyball tournament. I hear Nick Varner, Corey Deuel, Kelly Fisher and Allison Fisher are entered.

Yes, you get money back just for showing up.

Here's the full AZB article on the event:

Is there a players list? Curious who else will be playing (I will be!)

the european 8b championship is running concurrently, and i watched filler vs maciol. neither player missed any ball. dry breaks happened, but zero errors in play.

i must say, having watched corey vs ianson halfway through now, their match is much more interesting to me. i'm not sure heyball is THE answer to 8-ball, it probably isn't, but you have to throw a wrench in somehow with players of this caliber. whether it be tough tables (heyball) or ultra short shot clock (ultimate pool shootout). maybe something in between is the answer

I watched the final rack with Corey when it was hill-hill a few minutes ago on Youtube.

Varner and another guy was on the mic. Corey was at the table with 5 or so open balls to run. There was a ball 1 diamond from the corner, and about 1" off the rail. A complete hanger in pool. Varner and the other guy were saying the whole rack needs to be planned around that ball, because it's so difficult.

I've never been a fan of rounded pocket tables. They take away half of the available shots that mitered pocket tables have. I dread that Emily does not turn 9 ball into rounded pockets.

I was at the event and played five matches. All of my opponents (including Corey Deuel) and myself were 600+ Fargo. Not a single break and run in those five matches. Definitely a tough game.
