Americas Heyball Championship, July 2024

I was at the event and played five matches. All of my opponents (including Corey Deuel) and myself were 600+ Fargo. Not a single break and run in those five matches. Definitely a tough game.
It is not that hard if you play it little more. It is hard... but ..
It just need to adjust patterns and thinking to those pockets.
Use side pockets as much as possible. They play easy. Try move balls from rails or bank them to side pockets.
Also getting a shot is not good enough, you have to get close to object ball.
I made 4 run outs in row first day when our club got Joy table. (never after that again but i play it very rarely..)

I watched the final rack with Corey when it was hill-hill a few minutes ago on Youtube.

Varner and another guy was on the mic. Corey was at the table with 5 or so open balls to run. There was a ball 1 diamond from the corner, and about 1" off the rail. A complete hanger in pool. Varner and the other guy were saying the whole rack needs to be planned around that ball, because it's so difficult.

I've never been a fan of rounded pocket tables. They take away half of the available shots that mitered pocket tables have. I dread that Emily does not turn 9 ball into rounded pockets.

the rounded corner tables aren't going to change. the financial model behind heyball is selling their tables.

personally i think they could go up 1/2" and shorten the shot clock.

Did you watch the matches. Did he play well? Was it a tough field? nevertheless he won. Very good.
Actually, I watched one shot where he sh*t in an 8ball in the most spectacular fashion.
Absolutely hysterical. 😂
One of the greatest sh*ts I’ve ever seen.

Beauty! I found video of it on Corey's FB, I don't think you need to login:
Remember who was shooting - I would hazard a guess that he shot it that way intentionally, for 2 chances to make it. That's a pretty thin cut, and if missed the 8 is likely to hang; if the 8 does drop, a scratch is possible but not likely on those pockets. The way he points his cue at somebody looks like he's saying "hey thanks, your shot worked!"

This was the shootout thing? Haven't seen any of that, where does the cue ball typically go on that shot?

wouldn't put it past him. the shootouts often seem to have the 8 hanging, and he's the kind of guy to take that into consideration

Bad thinking. How funny would it be if he made it and scratched?

Suppose, he's got a sense of what's 100% on or in his explorations, collects stuff that he always hits the same way? Player like him makes a tiny adjustment and both balls going would be extremely unlikely. Both balls would be unlikely regardless - yet, hanging the 8 at that angle wouldn't; might even be a trick one pocket shot.
