Actually I think the Salotto matches could help catch sandbaggers. Golf handicaps can give you a red flag or “T” handicap if your tournament results don’t square with your score history right? So if you have lots of Salotto games in your rating and your tournament results are consistent with a player 100 points higher, well it seems like your FargoRate should get adjusted 100 points higher and all your Salotto results discarded. Easier said than done I guess.
I think it is good this was noticed. I am a fan of FargoRate and any handicapping or rating system needs ways to detect those who manipulate it. Ideally you combine the math and people who know the players. Sounds like this guy has a reputation locally.
