So on the other thread I had a back and fourth with a usual member who thinks because he doesn’t like something no one does lol I ended up putting him on ignore because I don’t have time for people like that. I don’t care that you find it ugly but acting like your the end all be all is ridiculous . That being said you’re allowed to like and not like whatever it is but it did get me thinking. I wonder how many people think diamonds are ugly or just like them for How they play. I’m not going to be offended by whatever you like Or don’t like. It’s all individual. just curious

Just for anyone’s info yes I have a 7 foot diamond table. I loved the table since I first saw them at the super billiards expo how every long ago that was. at this point it’s all a blur 😂 I was finely lucky enough about 18 months ago to purchase one and turn my garage into my pool room . I play every day (although honestly I played every day when I had a valley 🤷🏻‍♂️) sometimes when I’m sitting there taking a break I stare at it still in disbelief I have one. It’s my favorite purchase I ever made. If I had room for a 9 foot table I would be very tempted to buy an Old gold crown because I think they play every bit as good but for 7 foot to me there is nothing else I would rather have.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer the poll.

Edit to add this is just about the current diamond pro ams. Not what was made in the past. I want to keep it simple.

I like how they look and how they play. Local room is 8 9' Diamond Professionals so it's what I've played on the most by far. In rosewood finish with classic green cloth, they're a good looking table. I also don't mind the black/blue combos either.

Now, they aren't good looking like a Brunswick Centennial, which a friend has. And even GCs have a nice retro look to them. But I do like the consistency of the Diamond rails without the metal pocket surrounds.

I have never warmed up to their corner pocket shapes.
The Professionals with round corners look great, IMO. YMMV

I think they play terrible, everyone here knows that.

I voted ugly, but that is a bit strong. Their look has grown on me over the years. I do like that they will customize the wood choices per our requests. That is super strong.

Their aesthetic design has not changed in 25 years. That's an eternity for any product. I know from a business standpoint they sell more than they can make, so they don't have to improve anything. But that is because their competition has sucked. That could change at any instant, and a strong competitor could take over the market, just like Diamond did 20 years ago. If I were the boss of Diamond, I'd look to refresh the aesthetics every once in a while. (of course everyone knows I'd redesign the rails/cushions from scratch too;))

Hey our buddy in Florida is looking to get a new table, to upgrade his GC4. I told him about the new Predator, that it plays like a GC. He went to the showroom that had them, and loved them. He said it plays just like a GC, but looks super modern. He disliked the bounce of the Diamonds quite strongly.

I like the way they play just fine. To be honest I have never given any real thought to how a table looks. I highly doubt that will ever influence my playing decisions. Diamond, Brunswick, Valley, Predator, Rasson etc doesn’t matter to me.

I thought about the predator before buying the diamond but there is no damn way I’m playing more for a predator table. They wanted $500 more which seemed silly to me.
