Water is not compressible, how would it make rubber more bouncy?
Not an expert on the makeup of the rubber used for billiard table rails, but it's possible those rubbers are porous enough to take on moisture. That moisture would then need to be displaced upon contact, which I could see having at the very least a minuscule effect on the durometer of the rubber as applied to a billiard ball contacting it? Then there's a combination of the rubber and the cloth around it when moistened beyond normal levels (or below, whatever). Also moisture maybe making its way between the rubber and the wood, etc...? OR just the moistened cloth on the rubber affecting how the ball reacts to contacting the rubber/cloth?

Not saying I know anything, just that it could make sense.

Think of it like this... what happens if you have a sponge that is stiff & it gets wet... it becomes spongy... now the rail are made of rubber... but it is NOT just the rubber causing the rails to be spongy BUT the cloth covering the rubber may be causing the rail to get a lil spongy... just a possible answer why the rails seem spongy to the players... I know humidity can make alot of changes to playing pool... at least I tried to attempt an opinion... lol

Ok here’s a thought… if rubber does indeed absorb moisture, then the rubber fibers will be more stretched and less compacted than in dry conditions, as the extra liquid mass extrnds the space between the “pores.” So, while as you correctly state that water is effectively incompressible, the swelling due to moisture will have stored some extra elastic potential energy in the rubber, hence a more pronounced rebound effect.

Talk amongst yourselves…

I believe there may be some added inertial effects as well, since a “wet sponge” rubber contains more mass than a “dry sponge” rubber. However I would guess that this is probably negligible compared to the swelling/stretching effects.

Carry on…

You are correct. I have zero concept of that, and probably will never know the game well enough to tell you a table is being affected by this or that. Other than filthy balls and humidity causing balls to be "stickier" than usual (more skids/CIT etc).

It is my understanding that heat causes tables to roll faster, but not humidity, so I don't understand what is going on here. The room is air conditioned and I have not heard them saying the room is hot.
Not sure if you being sarcastic or if your reply is honest. In any case its not very nice talking shit about two of the hardest working players in the world. Which you did. If both Fedor and Shane say the table plays bad then you better trust them the table plays REALLY bad. Springy rails usually means old/low quality rubbers of the rails. And if high humidity is present in the room then it adds another level of difficulty to the game.

Relax, Nancy.

Hi-humidity makes rails livelier. Why? Not a chemist but tht's what happens in humid conditions.
What deadens the rails? I have 5-7 year old Diamond. Just had mine recovered when the table was moved and they seem slower. Any idea what would cause that?

These guys probably haven't picked up a pool cue in a week. If you have to play that many games then it gets old fast. Therefore, they probably saved it for these days.

Started at 6:00 pm, ended at 3:55 am. Give or take a few minutes. The first 1/4 they were both slow as molasses. The pace picked up a lot after the half-way point.

i havent read all the replies
but
regarding the table
for this much money dont you think they would play on a table they both know?

Relax, Nancy.
You are very brave💩 Its actually morons like you who destroyed this once great forum. Few years back I sent a request to AZB Mike to delete my account but he has never replied. So I will do it the hard way and I will call you for what you are - an asshole and a coward. Hopefully Mike will remove me from here expeditely😎
