right..

Yep, the US Open is clearly no longer primarily for a US audience/market. It is now the play toy of matchroom owners to basically make a joke of.

The commentator won't shut up about snooker and snooker events either.

The event would have died off if it had to only appeal to US market and its massive void of big table talent. I agree this is kind of publicity stunt but hey its their gig. Lot of great pool played already.

True enough. I just wish they would shut up about the snooker and golf.

Pay 30-something a month for DAZN and my stream begins with an advertisement.

Barry Hearn is clearly very inexperienced, but he's got decent mechanics. I saw him roll some long straight-ins while he was warming up. He looks better doing that than a lot of lifelong pool players I see at my pool room. I guess his time with Steve Davis paid off (unless I'm missing the fact that he has snooker experience).

Konrad is just cruising through this match and it's always wild to see a legit pro up against someone who cannot, in a million years, beat them. Their games start to look otherworldly when they go full auto-pilot and don't have to worry about a single mistake costing them the set.

If you lived in Canada you could watch two tables on matchroom.live for a few bucks a month.

I hear that one table is on Matchroom Tik-Tok?!?

yes, obviously for publicity. barry's been interviewed in UK media about his participation. the other guy i didn't know (by name) but i'm not british. i've seen him in mosconi cup.

i don't mind publicity wildcards, not at this point. when the tour gets going and the qualifiers are working it's a different story

He got a bye in his first-round match which would have been at 10AM and then was a no show for his 2:30PM match. He is still scheduled for a losers' bracket match tomorrow at 2:30PM against Shaun Wilkie.
Yes I can see the bracket too. I was wondering if anybody knew if he was actually here and no showed or if he’s not even in the states. I didn’t see him at the raxx tourney, where basically every other Filipino played. He also no showed his Shaun Wilkie match.

It turns out that there were 24 byes in the draw. In addition, nine players were double no-shows. All of those players were from outside the US as far as I can figure.

Gabe Owen was a no-show for his first-round match and then had a bye in the losers bracket. His next match is scheduled against Earl in a couple of hours.

Max Eberle was marked as losing his first match 9-0 and then did not show for his second match. The commentators mentioned something about a health issue for Max.

Here are the nine no-shows that are now out:
  1. Ante Sola
  2. Murbarak Sulaiman Al Wahaibi
  3. Nguyen Anh Tuan
  4. Joven Bustamante
  5. Hichem Benaissa
  6. Akakba Mourad
  7. Nacer Mougas
  8. Anton Raga
  9. Monaim Naffeti
Edit: Gabe Owen was a no-show.

Can someone post a publicly available bracket that doesn't require a MR login? Can that be added to the top thread of this post, ie. "sticky"?
Thanks!
If personal info is an issue, you can get a burner email account and only access the site with your browser in anonymous/incognito mode.

But I think the exposure/danger of getting an MR login is way below a lot of other sites, including this one.

Thanks, Bob. I'll pass.
Is this the future? Sport results "owned" by the sponsor, or behind pay-walls? How does this promote the game?
