US Open (9 ball) 2024, August 19-24, Atlantic City

Thanks, Bob. I'll pass.
Is this the future? Sport results "owned" by the sponsor, or behind pay-walls? How does this promote the game?
It is probably part of Matchroom's marketing. That marketing is important to their success, or at least they feel it is. I think it's similar to the loyalty programs of airlines, grocery stores and hotels.

Previously I have signed up for Matchroom's fan emails and a subscription to matchroom.liive streaming. Both have been positive with, so far as I can tell, no spam.

If Matchroom does not make money from pool, their pool goes away. Hearn has made it clear that he doesn't run charities.

If you lived in Canada you could watch two tables on matchroom.live for a few bucks a month.

I hear that one table is on Matchroom Tik-Tok?!?
I heard Paul Yates say Table 1 is on YouTube, Table 2 is on TikTok, and TV table is on the pay-per-view live stream (DAZN for us in USA).

Thanks, Bob. It certainly exclaims itself as an exclusive MR event and product.

Why should it be free?

You have to pay in some way to watch every other major sport.
If I want to watch, I'll pay.
I just wanted to see the scores, and that's not available without having to log into MR. It's no longer freely posted on their website, as it was for last year's tourney. You need to log in. What's that about?

You go girl! I don't give them shit. No one gets my cell phone number, unless I actually want them to call me. The same for my email. Sadly, it doesn't work. It's all out there, anyway.

You can only hope their marketing strategy works because I am not going to be one if their customers. The only site that sells my info an i have to keep using them is Google because I am held captive with no other option.

If I know this site sells info, as some claim, I'll be gone in a second.

The brackets makes the event interesting because you can see how everyone is doing and all the match up. Why the need to get an account to see that? Screw Matchroom.

I thought they held qualifiers from all over,to make the rest of the field. Obviously they hold a few spots back.
There were not enough qualifiers to fill the available spots after Matchroom's wildcards. I think there were about 110 spots to fill with qualifiers and I suspect that fewer than half of those were actually filled by the winners of qualifiers.

Was the loser's side always going to be race to 8 this year? Or did it change at the last minute? I was surprised seeing 8 while reading through the bracket today.

Hey, even Barry Hearn managed to win one game.
My bad, I used the word game to mean match, not rack - I'd like to play Barry for big money haha
I've won quite a few racks, but only one match. Hoping there's more opportunities that fit my schedule in the future. I'm still exploring and enjoying the game from my current location. I feel really lucky to have had many great experiences in my short time playing.
