As a regular participant in the NPR its sheer existence creates site wide issues. I don’t see the value but I don’t mind blowing off steam like others. It is what it is.

I can separate the two but based on the behavior of some here a lot of people cannot.

The hobby forums that thrive basically do not allow it any capacity. Including off topic discussion.

Obviously it creates rifts and dissent.

for the rational what goes on in npr stays there, has NO bearing on how we interact or do biz, etc

I am on other automotive related forums and politics are strictly forbidden.
Same... the best political conversations can do is cause issue with it's members. We are pool playing buddies...do not need to lock horns with political discussions.... maybe the same for other categories. Wars, etc.
On a pen forum... a member lives in Israel. He simply stated his country was under attack... It went from we hope you are safe to social media hate. I'd liked to see politics on NPR gone. Do we really need to get on each others shiiiit. Do the conversations do anything other than create a bad taste.
A sign in a corner bar read... No Political or Religious conversations.
A sign at a shooting range read... No Political or Religious targets......

Since we're on the subject... Make America GAG Again😂 Biden is a douchbag and Kamala is an Indian...call her Tonto.

It’s the 10% that aren’t that’s the issue. Had a member recently that I’ve known for years. Done good business with. Then he wants to hop on a plane and fight.

WTF is wrong with people. Identity politics is ridiculous.

agree, when it spills into "life"

It’s just really weird that a content specific forum gets more traffic for shit that has nothing to do with the topic than it does for the rest of the forum.
There’s like 10 NPR posts for every 1 pool post.

I’d bet it’s gone after the election, especially if a certain side wins..🤷‍♂️

I’ve said before and wholeheartedly believe ownership not only allows it, but wants the clicks and traffic. How else could you explain it. Especially since certain copy/paste clowns are allowed to do their thing.

That used to not be the case. But in my opinion allowing it here has lead to it permeating the whole forum and people have just vacated.

In hindsight allowing it didn’t protect anything.

You’re not wrong. In the spirit of seemingly protecting the concept of free speech it’s lead to this place devolving.

We are talking about 20-30 people over a 20 year period that have whittled this place down to it’s current state.

…and that is exclusive to the NPR with the exception of a certain J Army years past.

All the thriving forums I know are strict about politics. It’s about the hobby. Nothing more.

Very few, if any political posts escape NPR, and the ones that are egregious and reported, are usually dealt with very quickly. That being said, I would think that the more appropriate place for this poll, should be in NPR.
For all that are seriously opposed to the topic, in a sub-forum that I imagine very few outside of the "regulars" even visit, you are certainly free to petition Mike to shut down the topic.
In the end, it won't break my heart one way or the other. NPR now has adequate moderation, and most of the "problem children" are dealt with more often than not.
As always, any of you main-landers are free to drop by...We do our best to promote an atmosphere that may not have been present in the past.
I will tag Mike @azhousepro , and @FairladyZ , in case they have anything to add.
Best regards

Here’s the stark truth.

Politics in America has never been as divisive as it is today. Candidates for office have never been more acerbic and vitriolic. Legitimate news agencies are labelled as prejudiced toward one party or the other. The federal government’s agencies are questioned about their motives and hidden agendas. Compromise legislation has become a term that infuriates some key political leaders and is considered giving in, yielding to the other party’s demands. Fiscal accountability has been abandoned by both parties occupying the White House ever since Pres. Clinton left office with a balanced budget and budget surplus.

What’s this mean. Politics works its way into conversations everyday. It bothers fervent supporters of both Presidential candidates because the discussion become exaggerated, distorted, untruthful, accusatory, misleading and just flat out counterproductive. Bad feelings are promulgated, grudges can be formed and poor impressions of forum members are
created by the exchange of harshly worded posts that disagree. And it often turns into personal attacks or trying to
demean or ridicule the party you are disagreeing with. This can be avoided by eliminating political discussions on Az.

Keep it to npr. That’s why every forum from cars to billiards seems to have one. I don’t go over there because 1) to many liberals 2) this is where I come to get away from Politics And other real life stresses. My pool room is my place of peace.

Who vacated? There have been a handful of members who have been banned or seemingly stopped posting because of drama in NPR....but their content was mainly limited to NPR anyway.
