Some of they great ones have gone, some have changed to keep up with the times, others are like time capsules. I would love to see some pictures of the rooms that are mentioned on the forum here. For my contribution, here are some photo's of a "time capsule" pool hall, in my opinion. J.O.B's just outside Nashville in Madison, Tn.
I realize most will never set foot in here, so maybe this will give you an idea. First, the place is pretty big with 3 different rooms or areas. When you walk in you are greeted by a pair of dummies still thinking over the same shot...

You are in the 'Front" room with 7 or 8 seven foot red labels, the "pit", and a snooker table. Notice the vintage wood paneling and brown Berber carpets with duct tape covering rips and seams...

The Pit...This is where many of the action matches happen...The open door in the background is where you can get repairs, tips replaced, etc.

Take a left just past the pit and in front of the bar and you enter the back room. Another 8 or 9 seven footers and 1 9 footer, all diamonds...and some of the steepest bleachers you will ever find...

Still have some of the old Camel Tour pool lights...

Turn around, walk back through the front room, and go down a few steps and you are now "downstairs" with 8 or 9 more seven footers and another 9 footer...

The walls downstairs have these cool wood-carved portraits and other memorabilia of the famous people who have been there...these folks look familiar...

There you have it...one of the classic southern pool halls...maybe when someone mentions JOB's on here, you can have a mental image of the place...or better yet, maybe you can visit one day. I can pretty much guarantee the carpet, TV's, and wood paneling (all straight from the '70's) will still be there!
