The Germans buy all the stuff as wellIt’s just with American pool players
They love to spend money on shit and nick nacks

Makes the product fu**ing good! Why the reservoir tip?
I got these off the Bay many moons ago for $50 for a radial pin cue I had at the time. Not sure what they originally came with, but they’re gorgeous. Definitely ebony with what I’ll assume is some yeah in white. From a cue collector standpoint - I have seen some custom JPs that really set off the cue to a new level from an appearance standpoint.
I had a butt fall and bent my pin just a bit. After that, I have JPs on every cue I put in my bag.should be called joint enhancers not protectors as i ve never heard of any joint getting damaged.
Some of the JPs Tim used to make really added to the cues appearance. Not to mention today's resale value if you have a matching set!!!I agree with you Mike , my Scott Erwin cue has matching jp's as the wood used for the cue and I think they just complete the look and set it apart from the rest .

Mother always said we were High German. Found out from 23andme that I'm a Viking!!!I also am part German and Austrian all the way back to the early 1300's or so my genealogy fanatic mother once told me . I still miss my folks .
Easier to remove...a handle/ tab, basically. Why the reservoir tip?
Arf Arf.My family tree reminds me of a sage brush bush ha ha it's spread out all over the place , like so many other people I'm a mutt of sorts ha ha
I have JPs but never use them. Though I only have soft cases, the short trip from the car to the poolroom doesn’t present much of a hazard. Plus, I would only drop the butt while in the process of screwing or off the shaft, and fooling with JPs too would merely enlarge that risk (IMO). Checking a soft case as airline luggage would obviously be a different story.I had a butt fall and bent my pin just a bit. After that, I have JPs on every cue I put in my bag.
Accidently left the zipper open on my 4x8 and 2 shafts and a butt flew out and rolled under my truck heading downhill across the parking lot.I have JPs but never use them.
