I watched some of the Bergman/Hogue match earlier today and woo boy was the camera work bad. I know that’s a pretty common complaint people make in any pool stream but this was some of the worst I’ve seen.
For example: Bergman is on the hill and enough time has elapsed in the match that they’re on a 15 second shot clock. He’s running out for the match when he overruns position and hooks himself on the second to last ball. He had already used his extension and now has 15 seconds to shoot a very difficult shot on his other ball while still also having to play position on his first option. And what does the viewer see during this pivotal point of the match? A close up of his shirt/chest. The camera doesn’t reposition in time for us to get to see that shot and the position he gets on his last stripe. And oh by the way we don’t get to see him make that last stripe and the 8 ball either. Perfect.
