And, what are we to conclude from this change? Can't help but notice that my brief review of the new site revealed no current connection between CSU and pool. I always thought it was very cool (as well as being abundantly appropriate) that a university the caliber of CSU made such visible support of both Dr. Dave and pool. This is not to say that Dr. Dave ain't cool, because we all know that ain't the case. I just want to know exactly how I should couch my contemplated missive to CSU.

The main reason for the move is that even though the site contains free resources, it also contains lots of links to my commercial stuff (videos, courses, lessons, merchandise). This "commercial presence" grew over the years, and it became time to make the move. It is not appropriate to have "commercialized content" on a public university server. I also wanted to move the website so I could have full control and guarantee the it has a future, even after I can no longer maintain it (or die). I also like the new name better: Dr. Dave Pool Info (DrDavePoolInfo.com or DrDavePool.com).

It is a real shame that CSU does not have a long-term commitment to pool; however, I am very gratified that it did support you in your past achievements. You brought a unique academic subject to CSU, and it is CSU's loss that it lacked the insight to take a hand off and run. Regardless, Dr. Dave, you have done a very commendable job in all you have done to analyze and explain our sport. I, and certainly many others, look forward to learning from your continuing efforts in the coming years. Thank you very much.

Dude you sound like a student brown nosing.😃😄😁😆

Noticed the site was down for a bit last week. Was mildly concerned but wasn't sure what your maintenance window was. Must have been working on the migration?

Glad to see everything back up, you are an valuable resource for the game. (y)

Thank you for your kind words. I certainly plan to continue to grow and improve the site for many years to come.

There were a couple days of “transition” where the university had some “redirect issues,” but we finally got everything solved. The migration was certainly not a pleasant process. It took me 3-4 days working full time to get everything done.

Yeah, migrating apps can be a real pain. Especially websites when they could be going from one platform to another with DB changes and all kinds of other variables. I live that every day and having a team of pros doesn't make it much better. You just need to fight your way thru it a bit at a time.

Yep, the “grind” can be unpleasant at times, but it feels good when it is done.

CSU used to have a nice pool room. You know, the Gold Crown era of student unions. Looks like with the new buildings it is gone. Maybe Dr Dave can comment. That said I wouldn’t knock CSU too bad. Pool can’t be the university’s focus. I’ve always liked Ft Collins and the campus. Didn’t go there, but as a Denver kid there were events that got us up there from time to time. One year golf camp was the same time as a cheerleading camp and Broncos training camp. I think we had a better time than grown men with money ( not as much then) having to live in the dorms and go through old school training camp. 😜. I do remember playing pool there during my college years.
