NEW Bulletproof Synthetic Playing Tips.

Hello to people of AZBilliards. I am new to this website, but I made an account to just write about the Bulletproof Recoil tips I have been experimenting with lately. I believe the more information we get out about these, the more recognition they will start to get, which I believe they deserve personally.

To start, I currently play with a Bulletproof Recoil Hard tip. Before that I was playing with a Kamui Clear Brown Medium tip. I have now tested every formulation of the Recoil tips. Including the soft, reformulated soft, medium, and hard tip. Shoutout to Robert also for dealing with all of my questions and multiple phone calls haha. Super cool guy, with a great product.

The soft/reform soft had good feel to it, not much of a tink when you hit the ball, but I found it spun the ball way more than I needed. The draw and follow also suffered because the tip ate up a lot of the energy transfer from my stroke. The reformulated soft felt harder than the original soft, maybe like a soft medium, but it doesn't mushroom like the old soft. The medium feels great, but again just put a little more action than I was looking for. I did notice I got better draw/follow with the medium than I did the soft though. So I tried the hard tip, and instantly I was more accurate on long shots, and I got a much more satisfying feel when I hit the ball. The energy transfers much better with the hard tip. The biggest thing most people don't like about hard tips is miscues, but I haven't miscued once with this tip. I can get just as far off the ball as I can with a soft/medium leather tip. It sounds crazy, but it's true. Two other things i've noted is my draw is much better and consistent with this tip, and also I get less deflection with this tip as well. I also like the fact my tip hasn't changed shape at all, which i've noticed has made me more consistent than I used to be as well. Kamui Gator Grip tool works awesome on these.

Robert did tell me they possibly planned on trying to produce a medium hard tip in the future, but until that day comes, I don't think I will be switching from the hard formulation tip. It plays far too well to experiment with anything else currently.

On the other hand, I currently have a white diamond break tip, and now I want to try out a Bulletproof Break tip haha since I love this Recoil tip so much. They make great products, and have awesome customer service.
Thanks for the informative review. I play with the green and what you experienced with the 3 hardnesses is exactly what we have discovered as well. I played with medium leather tips for the last 20 years and now I will never trade anything for the green recoil. We are still 50/50 whether or not we are going to release a Medium/Hard but we are working on developing a shaper/scuffer designed specifically for the Recoil tips.

Has anybody ever seen a pool cue emoji??

I bought the pick style scuffer from you and the picks work OK (on my medium red) but it takes a while to get the surface where I like it. I'll be watching for your dedicated scuffer and get one as soon as it's available.

I was going to try the green again but I'm so happy with the red medium I'm even using it to break 8 and 9 ball racks. I temporarily retired my BK Rush.
My shop is a little too cold right now to work with my lathe but as soon as it warms up I think I'm going to try the grey prototype. (Shhhhhh)

We have not attempted to install these by hand yet. Please let us now how it goes! THANKS

Hallo, installed by hand for a friend, the soft one can't be as shiny as the hard one if installed by hand, the hard one, surprisingly is easier to install by hand
greetings from Germany

I’ve been using the Hard for months now, and I absolutely love it. I pair it with a Gator Grip-style scuffer and was using Masters chalk, but I’m switching back to Pagulayan Green—though I might give the Pagulayan Blue a shot as well. I felt that Taom chalk didn’t have great retention, but maybe I gave up on it too soon. I also tried the Red, but I definitely prefer the Green.

The Recoil tip is superb—I even break with it.

(For context before I switched, I was using a G2 Med on my playing cue, and before that a pressed Elkmaster/Milk Dud for years.)

I’m always excited to see new innovations from Bulletproof—everything you put out is top-notch. Really looking forward to the scuffer/maintenance tool you’re working on.

Saw a Recoil V2 video on YouTube today—can you share any details on it? How does it differ from V1?

@Bulletproof Billiards
if allowed i would consider putting a link to your website at the bottom of your post where some posters put their playing cues or a saying
and/or in the "about" part when you click on your name
also i dont know why but when i do a search for bulletproofbilliards.com
it takes me the break tip home page
i dont find recoil tips until page 2 on the products page
just FYI

Testing of the Hard Recoil complete.
After 3+ months of use, including breaking abuse.

Next test will be a Medium Recoil.

Took several weeks to get used to the feel of shooting with a hard tip. Very happy with performance. (500 fargo.)

I wish I had done closeup inspections more often. Cleaned it up for scuffing to find.... It looks like I fractured the tip, probably from using it for breaking. No idea when it occurred.

Super happy with these tips, and staff at Bulletproof. I tried a Medium, but after only a week, I missed that green hard unit.

Anyone that has hit with the green are impressed with the performance....most however do not like the hardness. I had the same initial reaction. Change is possible even at 65. 😆

The guy that created the video got it a little wrong (maybe a slight misunderstanding). Only the SOFT has been re-formulated to resist mushrooming. The Hard and Med have not been changed

Just wanted to post an update. This is now the 2nd time i’ve had the recoil hard pop off. The 1st time they used Dap Rapid Fuse to put it on, it fell off with an applicator pad. So the 2nd time I bought a brand new recoil hard tip, and used the recommended 2p10 thick glue with no applicator pad, and it popped off the other night. I love the hard tip, but i don’t know if I can continue to keep buying them for them to fall off. What sort of glue have yall used? I’ve had a professional cue maker put these on. Maybe I should have them put it on with something like JB Weld?

Gorilla Glue Gel (the thicker stuff). I've never had a tip pop with it, break cues, jump, or playing. The only tip I had pop was when I used the loctite that is often recommended for tips. It may have been an old bottle. On the YouTube video bulletproof put out they recommend a glue, it might be worth a try, but they also go absolutely ham on roughing the tip up... to the point that I question the method... but it might be a one size fits all solution, I did the following and have had no issues.

I don't know your procedure, but be sure to sand ANY tip perfectly flat. I do it with emery cloth laid flat on my bench and do figure 8s while rotating the tip. You basically want to do it until the tip bottom turns to a matte finish. Any shiny spots haven't been touched/flattened and represent low spots on the surface and you want the tip and ferrule to be dead flat.

I don't know if this is the issue, but also be sure to check your ferrule is actually a material that CA will stick to. Some materials almost require epoxy. Be sure your glue is fresh too, it goes bad surprisingly fast, especially if it's been sitting on the shelf in a big box store for months. I always make sure there is no dust on the ones I buy, and GG gel moves fast in stores so that may also be why I've had great luck with it.

Try the 2P-10 with a pad. This way if it falls off again you will know if the tip comes off the pad or the ferrule comes off the cue where your problem is. I sent you a DM also.

I have been playing with the hard for about 5 months now installed it with rapid fuse and no pad.....No problems. My ferrule is real ivory. Great tip alot of english and control even with the hard tip...Thanks will buy more.

I put the soft bulletproof recoil on my 12.2 rhino shaft. It plays like a medium , if I was to compare the hit to anything Id say its similar to a kamui black medium clear.

It holds chalk well ,produces "decent" english, it doesnt have the utmost feedback/feel , but its still got semi decent feel , lastly It hasnt mushroomed or lost its dome shape, overall its worth trying out.

I will say compared to sib pro or ultra skin pro, the recoil soft doesn't generate english quite as easily.

Id be williling to try the recoil hard being the english is supposedly better , @Bulletproof Billiards if you want to send 1 out for me to try, send me a pm . Thx 😉

Have been thoroughly enjoying playing with the green guy on a no-name CF shaft. One of the mediums popped off a bit back, so I tried Loctite Super Glue Power Flex Control for the hell of it (I normally use their Gel Control) and it's holding well

Perhaps these tips don't generate as much english as finer counterparts, but as a compulsive shaping and scuffing junkie who tends to hit the ball too hard anyways, the benefits of the resilient shape and consistent striking has me happy.

It's pretty damn difficult to scuff these well eh? I was trying out a pumice stone and some other weird objects. Settled on taking a tapper tool and gripping it quite firmly in the hand like a hammer and performing firm, short, and directionally kaleidoscopic scrapes amongst the dome.

Cheers. Waiting for the "Extra Hard" boys. I'll pay extra if it's purple

Just wanted to post an update to my previous post. Bulletproof was kind enough to send me another hard, I put it on with a pad and 2p10 thick, haven’t had issues so far. I’ve been even trying to jump with the hard tip to test it. It’s on there now, and I don’t plan on switching anytime soon. Thank you Bulletproof!
