1) Diamond cushions (enough said the past 20 year)
2) Perimeter lights. They are BLINDING from the sides. Need an egg-crate style diffuser added, just like what is on Diamond and Littman lights.
3) x99 capped tournaments. They give a big edge to the same very tiny percentage of players, nationwide.

What are your biggest dislikes in the game today?

The love of diamond tables-they play terrible
the love of a cleaned up soft robot pool
the pool rooms look like posh boutiques
every type of handicap-just match up and play.

1.) Pool streams that the chat covers up the right side of the pool table.
2.) Any pool organization that tries to emulate Adolph Hitler.
3.) Players that scream at the top of their lungs win they win a tournament.
4.) Players that wipe their cues off after every shot (Robbie Capito).
5.) Any match without a shot clock.
6.) A player allowed to use a jump cue after hooking him/herself.
7.) Josh Filler (see #3)
8.) Games that aren't "called shot".
9.) Commentators that think they have to predict every shot.
10.) Matches ending via "shootout".

That's my top ten. I'm stopping right there. YMMV

That’s a pretty good list. I agree on 8 of the 10.

Good list

Tournaments and their overall start times with the following scenarios:
  1. either start too late (7:00 or later evening scheduled time / on time start). who wants to be on the road at midnight or later?
  2. start late (30+ minutes) "because a car of 3 of their friends is 15 minutes away"
Have 5:00 friday evening and 1:00 sunday afternoon tournaments to give players options. I've also suggested two "brackets" for evening tournaments, one early and one late and I said I would run the early one, the TO's eyes just glaze over, sigh...

decent list, but to call out #6, are you saying a player can only use a jump cue if their opponent hooks them on a safe shot (intentionally or not)? that would be weird, allow jump cues or don't allow them, no contextual rules...

oh, and players that don't know what a double-hit is and don't understand why you have to call a 3rd party over because if you otherwise call a foul on them, their eyes just glaze over. maybe that's the key to better pool, no stupid people with their eyes glazing over???

The lack of common sense pool etiquette among many players in our weekly tournaments. Not just the newer younger players but the older players who’ve played most of their pool in bar rooms.

Examples:
Opponents on their cell phone.
Opponents you can’t communicate with because they’re on their AirPods.
Opponents that won’t sit down and stand too close to the table while I’m at the table.
Opponents that decide to take a restroom break in the middle of a game - not while they are at the table but just after they miss or while I’m at the table.
Opponents who don’t assist getting the balls out of the drop pockets after a game.
Opponents who take the chalk from the table to chalk up after they miss, when I’m needing it.

That’s just for starters!

The ghost is the 3rd best player in my house, so just come here and play him. He did do better than normal for a spell there when I wasn’t playing good.
Then I would be the 4th best in your house and the only one that would be happier is the ghost… however 4th best doesn’t sound too bad!

I would prefer the rule to be that you can only use the jump cue to attempt to defeat a safety or jelly roll by your opponent. In other words, you should have to finish your inning with the cue you brought to the table when your inning began. A player shouldn't be allowed to bail themselves out of a bad positional shot with a jump cue, IMO. That rule would still keep a jump cue involved in the game of pool.
