Two-sided ball rack

The Diamond wooden rack is oversized, and has side grooves. Very easy to lift without disturbing the balls. For 14.1, when the break-ball is close, I substitute the Delta, which also has grooves. Neither is cheap though.
BTW: I find any rack is unlikely to be a perfect triangle, and (assuming the balls aren’t worn undersized), a really tight rack usually is achieved with only one specific point facing forward. I compensate with wear by lining the triangles with progressive layers of packing tape.
Were you trying to slide this by?😉😁😆

Correct.

Remember what I said earlier about my cheapskate ass? ;)

I’ve always wanted an opened back rack myself. Might try that one

A side note, why in the world do they insist on destroying the red/yellow ball set with an 8 ball? I want a set of pure color and pure black. An 8 ball doesn’t stand out amongst regular pool balls but it seems like a gaudy glass diamond nose ring on the Mona Lisa when paired with the reds and yellows.
I know the OP doesn’t want a hinged one but it has been brought up. The above smartrack is nice and thin but I think the V-Rack looks more solid long term imo.

I’d guess without a hinge a 2 piece rack would break over time. We’ve all seen traditional wood racks falling apart at the joints. A triangle is the strongest shape. A V is dirt weak by comparison.

The hinge allows it to go in a stick bag too. Frankly I think two paint stirrers tied with leather cord would do fine.

The $100 V-rack also has a cushion along the side that allows a better rack with worn balls:

I had one of this style cheaper hardwood racks. They were built surprisingly well but the balls didn't really touch as they should. I glued 1" strips of craft felt on the front two sides and it made it into an excellent rack. It's still a bit tight at the back so I don't think this would work for OP, but I can attest to how well felt works on a rack. I've also used it at a local league with mismatched balls and it does a great job.

Obviously it's no Delta 13 but for around $20 it's a great option.

You don't still have the first nickel you ever earned, do you
That would have been earned picking blackberries in the late 1950s. Using a coffee can and selling for a dollar a gallon. I squandered those earnings on model airplanes that cost $1 each. 🤷‍♂️ Grandma and Grampa migrated to California from Oklahoma much like the movie The Grapes of Wrath. Grandma had picked everything including cotton. I could never keep up with her picking berries. Abandoned apple orchards in Northern California led to us picking apples until the pickup bed was full. Oh the pies she made! If she wasn't picking she was cooking. Her apple pies cooling on the kitchen window sill put out an irresistible arroma. No visitor ever left Grandmas house hungry. 🤷‍♂️ Talk about a work ethic. Thank you Grandma!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

$100 dollar racks ... lmao i would just deal with what i got

but people spend $20 on chalk .... cant cheap out on a rack either ...

it never ends

where there is a product there are suckers willing to buy ... it looks cool .. it makes me feel cool ...

My grandma never called her refrigerator and refrigerator, it was always the ice box. I suppose that's what they had when she was young and the name stuck. The house I grew up in had a milk door.

See you just don't understand. Before I bought a delta 13 elite I could only make 3 balls in a row. Now I can make 4 in a row. IMO it's totally worth it. ;)
