How to Be More Accurate With Jacked-Up or Elevated-Cue Shots

Ah the Majority! Can't shoot with the other hand. But look at the poster players. Efren and Ronnie. Things that make you say, 🤔

Switching is much better for your back than not switching. In fact in view of guys like Gorst and even my own back, pool should be taught as an equal left and right skill.

Here's a good study.
Well the video coverage has given me a good look at Selby's eyes on a few shots. Every shot that I could tell where he was looking at contact had his eyes down . The break shots and long shots gave the best chance to detect his eye patterns.
I was not expecting that. 🤷‍♂️

One very important part to get more accurate jacked up shots that is often overlooked is feet.
If you make your jacked up shots stance so you keep your front leg locked and get legs aligned same line to shots you can get your upper body same way as normal stance.
Many pros do it this way. I learned this from famous British Snooker Coach. He said it dynamic stance.
Back leg just heel or toes touches floor lightly and keep you in balance.
At around 4:30 Mark you can see example of that. That is just slighty elevated shot but i still use this dynamic feet position.
Try this Dave!

Do you mean aiming lines? I scanned video and found no one's eyes in it---beaucoup aiming lines, though. Video looks like its reenactments of the shots but with no one there. If there are shots of someone's eyes, can you give the time it appears in the video?

Oops, I linked the wrong video. Sorry will see if I can find the right one. This one might work.
At 11:24 is a good look at his eyes. Hard to read though. 🤷‍♂️ I will see if I can't find a good look on his break off shot. It's the easiest to read usually.

Here is a break off at 5:40.
I hope 🤷‍♂️

Hey Greg. I think youre on wrong thread. This is not cueball last one..
Yeah yeah yeah, color me....uh little Johnny. Bouncing with hand raised. I have been asked settle down a time or few. 😉
The upside is Dr Dave gets the bump. 🤷‍♂️

Little Johnny jokes are about a small boy who naively poses questions and makes statements that are very embarrassing to his "grownup" listeners (such as parents and teachers), and has a very straightforward way of thinking. At times he is well educated in the terminology of sex, while at others he is all too innocent.

Thanks for posting this, and great out!

Being tall, I don't need this approach unless I really need to jack up high. Although, I often teach it to "vertically challenged" students. I should have covered this in the video.

Not sure he gets the bump. I was interested in reading the comments about the video but now you seem to have hijacked it?

I remember seeing a Darren Appleton video. He said that jacked up or on the rail he always looks cue ball last in those situations. Makes sense based on how easily you can add unintentional swerve

Thanks for the video, good as always.
Also nice to see I am not the only one going grey 😄

Agreed. This is not the kind of "bump" I appreciate. On the contrary, it is a big "turn off."

Bingo. For those interested, this and other eye pattern "best practices" (used by most pros and taught by most instructors) can be found here:

You're welcome. And thank you for the "on topic" posts.

I actually don't mind when discussions in threads take "detours" as long as the detours are interesting.

Well fine, I will leave you alone. Shrug 🤷‍♂️ I "assumed" (yea I know what that means). Well with Dr in your name. I certainly wasn't trying to turn you on. So I will assume that you still stand by the words I pointed to as inaccurate. Along with, attempted links to evidence.

Gonna hold you to that.
